Flower in hair

Question
I want to wear my hair down and wavy. One side of the hair, I want to be tucked behind my ear and I want to have a big white flower above my ear there. I think this look would go well with my garden themed wedding. But, can I still wear a veil with this look? Is this too trendy?

Answer
I personally dont think you could wear a big white flower and still a veil. but I say do what you want I wouldnt worry abut trendy. I kinda think it would look more tropical then garden though.

Answer
i think it depends on the style of veil but i would think it would look better without a veil. maybe you could put the flower in for the reception and just go with a veil for the ceremony? what kind of flower are you planning to use? i think a tiger lily would look awesome (do those come in white?)

i think wether it looks garden-themed or tropical-themed depends on what type of flower you use. a tiger lily or even a rose or carnation (ooh or a daisy!) would not look overly tropical. if you used something like a hibiscus yeah it would be tropical.

Answer
Tiger lilies are orange and black lilies, but lilies come in white. It would be very pretty; just be sure if you use real ones that the florist pulls the stamens out first. Lilies have a lot of dark yellow/orange pollen that stains, and gets everywhere if you just brush against them.

I agree that the flower and a veil might not work so well, although I've seen veils that are just like a ribbon of tulle down the back, and that might work. I like the idea of a veil for the ceremony if you want one, then using the flower for the reception.

If you wanted something more gardeny and less tropical you could use a white gerber daisy.

Answer
I, too, don't think a flower behind your ear would work with a veil... how about a flower "headband" instead - something that sits on the top of your head that a veil can easily lay over?

Answer
I'm not sure that they would be great together either. Have you tried it out?

We'd love to see a pic of the flower behind your ear and how you are going to wear your hair... this would help us to picture it all.

If you want both perhaps you could wear one of those floral headbands... I always think renaisance fair or fairy girl... they are a halo of dried florals with long colored ribbon running down the back.

Answer
Oh, LJ, that's kind of what I was thinking of, with the veil pinned at the back and just going down, rather than over the face or even over the top of the head down the back. I think that's the only way a veil would work with a single flower in the hair, but I think it looks very nice. You might have to pull more hair back then you originally described, though, in order to fasten the veil in with a hairclip or something.

Answer
i always liked the look when a flower was at the nape of the neck w/ a long veil hanging down from that (usually a floor length one), but this way you couldn't have it pulled over your face, at least i don't think so. i pretty much second the opinions above, tho. the placement of the flower would dictate wether or not you could pull off a veil. it is a lovely idea tho!

Answer
I agree with you. If you are wearing your hair down you have to choose between the big flower of the veil.
