Question
So i started taking BCP and im on my 3rd week. When do i get my next period? When I start the white pills? or right when im done with the white pills? And do i continue taking the new pack right away? or do i wait until my period is over so i can start the new pack?
Answer
You should get your period sometime during the week of the white pills. The white ones at the end are placebos-basically they're place holders so you get in the habit of taking the pill every day. You'll start your new pack after the last day of the white ones-or Sunday if you started the pills originally on a Sunday. I never take the white pills and just start over with a fresh pack the following Sunday. Hope that helps!
Answer
Mine starts 3 days after I finish the BC pills. I don't bother with the white ones. You follow the week as to when you start a new pack, but you don't wait until your period is over. You just break for a week, take the white pills if you want, then start a new pack when they're done.
Answer
You can either take the white pills or ignore them, as the others have said. This is the week your period will start. Mine almost always started on Tuesday of that week. Then when they are done (the white pills) you will start up your next pack. I generally didn't take the placebos either, but I think I did in the beginning to get used to taking a pill every night.
When you've read the discussions on here about skipping your period with BCP, we've been talking about skipping those white pills and then starting a new pack right away. This will skip your period. You really shouldn't do this though without talking to your GYN first, and IMO, it makes your next month period just a little worse, cramps and all. I just had a friend do this for her wedding and she agreed that the period was worse after skipping the one month. I know you didn't ask this question, but you addressed it, so I'm just filling you in!
Answer
Thanks ladies for the info, ya i read that stuff in one of the threads (about starting the new pack to skip your period). Its good to know, maybe ill do that in the future if i really really need to.
Is it true that if you put your unused bcp in your shampoo, that it'll make your hair stronger? My coworker tells me that even if im not gonna take the pills, just get the prescription and drop the pills in the shampoo bottle, you can even do it with the placebo ones. hmm i wonder if that'll work? I should try it w/the placebos

I never heard that one before.
Answer
I'd never heard that! Although if it's true, it must be the hormones-the placebos are basically sugar, aren't they? I can't imagine there's anything in them that would do much for you...
