My color won't fade fast enough!

Question
I had (hind sight is 20/20 as they say) pretty naturally highlighted blonde hair(never colored before), but decided to have my stylist color it chocolate brown in January just to change things up for the winter. I wish I had just left it alone because I want it to be natural again, but my stylist says I have to wait for it to fade. It has definitely faded- to an ugly medium brown. I am going to be around my in-laws next month and my high school reuinion is in the fall- is there anything i can do to get back to the good ol' days (hair color-wise)?

Answer
I think it would be best to go ahead and highlight your hair to get it closer to your natural blonde. It is not likely to fade out to your natural shade.

Thru this experience I have learned that I am not cut out for hair color and the maintenance it requires... so I'm looking for a solution that will get me back to blonde and keep me from ever having to dye/highlight again afterward. If I highlight it now, won't I just have to keep that up to avoid roots?? What if I bleach it and have her dye it back to a shade close to my natural color? Is that just too wishful thinking? Do i have to cut it off to start fresh?! Darn it I wish I had thought of all this before i went so dark.....

Answer
I suggested highlighting in a shade close to your natural so that it would grow out nicely. Usually it doesn't have to be re-highlighted. - Sometimes once more, depending on how much of the brown is left in.
Your hairdresser can use a color remover and then tint it to your natural shade.
She can also bleach it. The bleach is hardest on your hair, then the color remover.
You didn't say how long your hair is. If it is long, you have more to worry about when it comes to condition.
