Contact lenses is a common staple for many Americans, but there is many do's and do nots to successful contact -wear.

Here is a list of do's for contact users:
• Do practice the instructions given by your optometrist.
• Do follo-w lens cis and -wearing instructions.
• Do -wash hands before handling contacts.
• Do handle contacts over a clean to-wel.
• Do store the contacts in the case provided and keep the case clean.

Here is a list of do nots:
• do not use cream soaps, as the film -will affect contacts.
• do not contaminate the lenses -with bacteria from saliva.
• do not use homemade saline solutions.

-when a particle of dust or other foreign object gets stuck in your eyes, do not rub your eyes. This could scratch the cornea.

Here is -what you should do:
• If you -wear contact lenses, take them out before trying to remove the object.
• If the particle is over the dark center or colored part of your eyes, try gently flushing it out -with -water. If it doesn't come out, put on dark glasses and get medical help.
• If the object is on the -white part of your eyes or inside the lo-wer lid, use a moistened tissue to gently remove it.
• If it is stuck or embedded in the eyesball, cover your eyes lightly -with a clean dressing and get immediate medical help.
