Ask specifically for an iron test, I had a whole raft of blood tests (the works) i was checked for thyroid and hormones too, I was just under the acceptable level. My worst hair loss day was 200 (it is always worse when I wash it) in my bad days it ranged from 60-80 (when I combed first thing in the morning, couldnt count all the hairs i lost the rest of the day) now it is down to about 20-40 which looks about normal for me.

Serafina - what sort of stress are you talking about, having a baby, death, operations can all cause TE but you dont want to blame general stress if it is something else. Like I said I have had anxiety disorder for a few years now but I am a lot better, if I was going to lose my hair due to stress it would have happened in the beginning of my illness because I was in such stress and physical pain I thought I was going to die of it and yet my hair didnt suffer then. Good luck, hope it stops soon.

My hair loss was also rapid, or at least one day I looked and was like crap I am missing lots of hair. I have had thyroid tests, lupus ana testing and the iron ferritin test all normal. I am grasping at straws here. Trying to take iron suppliments, b vitamins, biotin, drinking tons of milk and water eating lots of protein. I am loosing hope that my hairline will return. I thought this only happened to the guys

It can be a hormonal imbalance too, my doctor checked mine and they were ok

I just went in today to get the hormone panel, estrogen, progesterone androgens etc - should know by the end of the week how that goes. Also last week had a recheck of the thyroid and another ANA test. If those come back normal which my luck they will - I am just going to continue the biotin multiple vitamins etc and pray it comes back. I see new sprouts so its not like im loosing and not gaining but my part is larger now and I never had that problem. My whole head in general has lost about 1/3 and if I do a ponytail its skinny now. This sucks

Cinderella how is your hair doing now that you are on iron? Any regrowth yet? My doc thought that was the problem but my ferritin was 71. For the heck of it im taking iron it cant hurt as long as I dont overdo it
