I have read the FAQ & it is very helpful! Thanks so much...I am still hoping maybe somebody has a personal recommendation for a center near me. I also see on this list that you have found problems with -Company Name Deleted-. I was considering the Temecula office for a consult. What problems have you heard with them? Thanks again! Your input is truly valued, as you are the pro!
Answer
there are many people having problems with this chain. you should run a search on the websites i provided for private practices. this chain has a very bad reputation due to the fact that they don't care about their customers at a lot of locations once you give them your money and a lot don't use the most effective laser.
i know places in Los Angeles, there haven't been any recommendations in your area. people don't come around on these forums often enough to see your post and respond with something in your specific area. the best way to find places is by running a search using the search function for recommendations. otherwise, use the provider searches on the laser manufacturer sites I provide and have 3-4 consultations to compare techs and prices.
Answer
Tami -- I am in Temecula also and decided to get my treatment at the A-L-C office here. I have been very pleased with the results and the company itself, for the most part.
I had a few consults at other locations, and based on the price, the two-year guarantee, and their use of the LightSheer Diode laser (for my skin type III), I chose A-L-C.
I am having my underarms and extended bikini treated there. The total cost for both areas was around $1700, and was financed through a credit company that does no interest for 18 months.
I just had my fourth session about 3 weeks ago, and am pretty pleased with my results up to this point. My first session the technician treated me with pretty low settings, and I only had spotty results because she was moving the laser the whole time and skipped areas. The second time, the tech was great...she took her time and listened to my concerns about the first session, making sure to be very thorough. The first session took about 15 minutes, the second almost an hour. That tells you something. The third session was with a different tech, and the fourth was with the technician from the second session (who was by far the best). Upon talking to her the last time, I was not shocked to learn the other two techs were not with them anymore. My complaints alone were enough to convince me they didn't belong there. I'm sure others complained as well.
As for my results, the hair loss is amazing. Up until my last session (again, my fourth), I wasn't sure I was happy with the results. I had some shedding after each appointment, but not where I was like "Wow!..." but when I told the tech this before my fourth treatment, she upped the settings. On the 2nd and 3rd treatments, I was treated with the diode at 25-26 for the underarms, and 27-28 for the bikini. I don't know what she went to on the fourth (forgot to ask), but I know it hurt more. After, the redness lasted a little longer than normal, but was still gone after about 2 hours.
Anyway, sorry this is getting really long... I just wanted to give my opinion on the A-L-C in Temecula. The manager is really nice (she'll be the one to give you a consultation should you go in), and the main technician is awesome. I can give you their names if you want privately.
I can understand your hesitation, with all the negative reviews of that chain on this forum! When I began my treatment in December, the Temecula location was independently owned and operated, but by my 2nd or 3rd treatment, they had join the national chain. Because of this, I'm pretty sure on new clients they try to use the IPL laser... the tech had made a comment about keeping the diode for patients already using the diode. Hopefully if that's the right laser for your skin type, they would use it if you wanted it.
If you have any other questions, let me know. I'd be interested to hear from someone else in the area, and am happy to help if I can!

Answer
Courtney, glad your treatments are going so well, can you tell us what the intervals were between treatments, also your skin and hair type. Thanks!
Answer
yes, please share you skin and hair type. if you're a type III or lighter, even 24-25 are pretty low settings on a LightSheer. You are correct in asking for even higher settings. You can probably be easily treated at at least 30-35 joules if you're type III or lighter. Whatever DOESN'T shed each time WAS NOT affected due to low settings. Get the most out of your treatments. Btw, a high employee turnover is prominent at this chain everywhere across the country.
Answer
I am a type III...light skin but tan pretty easily, with coarse, dark hair. I started out at 6 week intervals between treatments 1 & 2, and 2 & 3. I didn't find this forum until after I started my treatments, so after reading that longer intervals are fine, I waited 8 weeks between my 3rd & 4th treatments, and had more hair growth for them to get.
Based on the increase in pain during my last treatment, I'm going to guess she went from 27/28 to above 30... they do test spots before every treatment area now, so I think they are cautious not to burn people. When I was treated in the mid-20s, they would increase it 1J at a time, which wasn't too noticable. I'll ask next time I'm in there though what they used. After my fourth treatment, the shedding has been great... much more than the first three treatments. It's been about 4 weeks since my last treatment, and there is only minor hair regrowth, so most of what was active last time shed well this time.
Next time I definitely will ask them to go even higher... the pain was a little rough, but it's for such a short period of time I think I could tolerate it. The redness and bumps go away quickly for me, so I could probably handle more energy for my last two treatments.
