Question
Hi
I never look like I have shaved, even right afterwards, people ask me "did you shave today?" my beard is just so thick.
I'm half Lebanese/half White but I have olive skin (a natural tan is the best way to describe it) not as dark as you'd think of middle eastern though since I'm indoors all day, and I'm only 50%. Anyway, how do I know what skin type I am?
Also, if I go through with this, will my face be all red and scaly and bumpy at work even if I do it on a Friday and heal over the weekend? I just started a new job and that would be really awkward
Thanks for any help you can offer. I have no idea what lasers the place I'm going to should be using etc. it's called Renaissance, there are about 7 of these places in Dallas and they've been around since 1998.
Thank You!

Arrrgh this makes me nervous!
"Increased hair growth in or around the treated area is a very rare consequence of Laser Hair Removal, usually seen on facial areas in patients with darker or olive complexions. and almost always resolves spontaneously in a month or so."
it sounds like I need to get an Nd:Yag laser though. man, this is a lot to learn.

Answer
induced growth on the face is referring to a woman with finer hair and a bunch of other factors involved. it doesn't apply to you really.
please read the FAQs. You will get most of your questions answered there. Yes, Yag laser is best for you. With normal treatment, any redness and irritation should subside within a few days.

Hey Bran,
Yeah the diode lightsheer is a good laser. I have never gotten my whole beard done at one time. I don't know if you want to do this, but you may want to try it. I use to have peach fuzz on my upper cheeks and I got that lasered, Kind of a mistake, because now it's thicker. I would have to say tell the person who is working on you, to stay only where there is thick course hair. Tell her to get one of those white pencils and mark the area you want done. Don't let them work on areas that don't have hair or where there is peach fuzz. That being said, you should try to work on the neck area and get that cleared first. Then go back in and get your neck done again and go from your side burns to like a Goe tee area. I had a goe tee for several months. Then 6 weeks later do the same areas again, neck and then everything except the goe tee area. Then once that starts to clear up a bit after like 3 or four treatments, then get your whole beard done. My brother got his whole beard done all at once and it looked HORRIBLE for sometime. I didn't want to look like this, so I did it in parts. The problem is that is gets patchy and there are like hair lines on your face. It makes you look like your sick or something, which really sucks. Now his face is really clear and you really can't see any hairs, but that's after like 10 facial treatments. My brother and I have very dark and course hair. He has had the chance to get a lot more work done than I have, but my face is like where it use to be. I have like skin type 3 and 4. I have like a farmers tan, I am lightskinned on most of my body, my lower arms have a tan and my face has a slight tan. The diode can function on you, but they just have to change the setting. I think it's like 100 to 30 milliseconds. Well I hope this helps a bit. If you have any questions feel free to contact me, Eric
Answer
If I were you, I would find someone with a Yag laser because of your skin color and also because of the area you're getting this done on. Yag laser will probably cause less irritation and is safer on darker skin types, and works well on coarse hair. LightSheer might be too much for your skin type at settings high enough to kill the hair.
also, make sure to have at least 3-4 consultations. don't jump on any "deal" before doing that.
