Question
I have my first appointment next week (arms). I tan easily so I asked if I can have 1 appointment now before summer and then delay the rest of the treatments until late summer (after 4 -6 weeks of avoiding the sun). I was told by 2 places that this would be fine. Does anyone know if this will decrease the effectiveness of the first treatment? Also will the regrowth be very noticeable and unattractive during the summer without a 2nd treatment for several months. Would it be better to delay the first treatment until late summer? What does the regrowth look like...fine hair, or does it grow back coarse (someone told me it turned curly and would not lay flat for them?)

Answer
I don't think you'll see much difference between the hair that you have and the hair that you get after only one treatment. There should be a reduction but it might not be noticeable.
Ideally, when you start doing LHR, you'd want to continue with regular intervals between sessions. How long? That depends on how fast the hair is growing. For me, I usually waited from 8 to 12 weeks. I didn't go in until I saw that there was quite a bit of hair growing. However, you don't want to wait too long because some of those hairs will be leaving the active growing phase -- the phase you want hair to be in when getting treatments as this is when the treatments are effective.
Yes, you will have a reduction after the first treatment but it might not be noticeable. I might forgo the sunning/tanning this summer and continue with the treatments. By next summer, you won't have to be concerned. But hey, that's just my opinion.
Answer
Especially for the first three treatments it is important to have treatments on a consistent basis to synchronize the growing phases and get more bang for the buck. If you must tan, wait until fall to start your treatments.
