My daughter is 13 and she really needs

Question
to have her upper lip hair removed... She begs me to take her to get laser hair removal but am unsure if this is a good idea. I mean she now bleaches her hairs but this is not enough.. She is dark hair, dark skin hispanic and Ive heard stories about being the right color for this. Plus I also worry if the laser hair removal will work anyways and I could hardly afford this for my child. I mean If i knew for sure it would work and she would be happier,, I might be alot more willing to spend this kind of money . At same time I dont know if it is safe like I said. Please.. some advice would be appreciated.. Oh yeah if I do take her to get it done.. Where is the best place to take her?? Thanks in advance..

Answer
laser is not the best option here. you should start electrolysis. it's a permanent method and best for upper lip since it's a small area. it only costs aout $60/hr and she'll probably only need 15 mins appts several times a month to get rid of it. the most important thing is to find a good electrologist and go in on schedule. (get hairs as soon as they come out when they're most vulnerable). since hairs grows in 3 phases, it should take about 9-12 months to get rid of ALL the hair.

Answer
I had electrolysis done on my upper lip and I think it's best for this type of area. You won't have the scabbing that you sometimes get with laser so it's less obvious. Also, it seems like the best idea for your daughter's skin color.
When I got my upper lip done she started out spending the entire hour on it. Then over time she was able to do it faster (since there was less hair) and spend the rest of the hour on other parts of my face. I would go once a week and if needed I would bleach between treatments. Bleaching is fine for electrolysis. Everyone is different though and I can't say what frequency would be best for your daughter. I have strong hair genes so I would get regrowth quickly. It took about a year to remove all of it. $60/hour also sounds right.

Answer
i had it done too. I have (had) finer hair there and only bleached before as well, so electrolysis worked well in just a few treatments. it works best on hair that you haven't touched before (faster to kill the hair that's not strong from continuous removal)

Answer
I once discussed this type of thing with my electrologist. We were talking about how ppl usually make a mess with tweezing and waxing before they finally see the light and get electrolysis.
She said (and I quote): "There's nothing more pleasing than to see a young girl come in her looking to have upper lip hair removed and she's NEVER tweezed or waxed it in her life. It makes the process so much easier and more effective in a shorter period of time."
I definitely would go with electrolysis over laser in a small area like that. I think you'd save money going this route. Good luck.
