Question
I am an African American female who is noticing thick hair growing under her chin. Would laser be right for me? Also, I have some rather large pores on my cheeks as well as other discoloration. Would microdermabrasion be right for me as well?

Answer
African American skin with dark hair is removable with laser, but stick to only the long-pulsed Nd/Yags such as the CoolGlide, Lyra, SmartEpil or Acclaim. Make sure to have a test spot or two one week before the full treatment to look for probelems with hyperpigmentation.
Microdermabrasion is appropriate in black skin for enlarged pores, and can be done in between laser treatments. (ie separated by two weeks on either side)
Make sure you go to a doctor with experience in treating darker skinned patients.
