Answer
sounds like the new PPX laser. jury still out on its effectiveness, not many have tried it. it's supposed to be less painful than others. that's what it claims.
if you're indian as your name suggests, you probably need a Yag laser for darker skin. Brazilian can be $150-250 per treatment
Answer
I've tried the Coolglide on my chin area before and it DOESN'T WORK. The RN used really high settings on me too. The hair kept coming back. I had like 6 treatments.
Answer
if it didn't work, that doesn't mean it was the laser's fault. you probably need to look into reasons that can be possibly causing hair growth on that area. if high settings were used and the hairs seems to come back every time, there is something in your body causing this growth. switching lasers or hair removal modalities in general won't help. have you been tested for PCOS, insulin resistance, etc? This usually happens when there is an imbalance in the body that causes hair growth. so even if you remove the hair, your body will keep producing new hair due to this issue and it will always seem like the hair is growing back, when it's actually new hair your body keeps developing due to the problem.
Answer
Hi Blink,
Yes, you are right. I think I have PCOS. I went to a gyn a few months ago and she did all the testing, but nothing really came back positive. However, I have diagnosed myself with it, given I have always had irregular periods and I have always been hirsuite. I am currently on Yasmin (2nd month). I don't think it's working much, but I hear it takes a few months...
Anyways, I might try the Aesthera laser b/c the coolglide didn't do much for me. But I don't want to throw 250 away either...
Answer
There is really no point of trying another laser at this time unless you have an extra couple of thousands of dollars for something that won't give you results either. you need to get the hormones under control. a lot of times gynos miss the diagnosis. you should try to see an endocrinologist. a lot of people on this forum who were not diagnosed before were able to get a positive diagnosis from an endo doctor who specializes in these things. they would be able to put you on proper medication and once that's stabilized, only then it would be wise to spend the money on lhr. Coolglide is one of the best lasers on the market. it didn't NOT work because it's a bad laser. I know it's hard to deal with the hair and you probably just want it to go away, but unfortunately it won't with any laser without proper treatment of the issue first. I'm just trying to say, be careful not to set up yourself for another disappointment. If you deal with the underlying cause first, you would be able to find a proper solution to the hair issue in time.
