Question
I just had my 3rd treatment 2 weeks ago on a candela gentlelase. I am doing my belly button area. so far i am extremely happy with the results. the hair used to be very dark and course now i only have about 3 fine hairs left. the only thing is that i still have the black dots. it seems like the hair stopped growing but they never fell out. my question is that i want to get my face done but i cant walk around all day with the black dots on my face like a 5 oclock shadow. the hairs on my face arent as course, will i still have the same problem? also i've heard stories of people getting their face done and having the fine hairs activated and turning dark, anyone have experience with that? also, they are making me get my treatment 10 WEEKS APART? i called to get an appt sooner telling them that my research shows that i can have the appt 6-8 weeks apart, she said that is false. what is the real time frame and are they telling the truth. i'm not going to give them more business if i feel they are dishonest. my face will cost me about $2500, i'm not rich so i want to make sure i'm making the right decision. any advice or comments are welcome.

Answer
the best time to come in for next treatment is after your hair has shed, and within 3 weeks after a batch of new hair surfaces. You want to catch the hair as soon as it comes out because that's when it's most vulnerable and easier killed.
$2500 for the face? that seems very expensive. How much of your face are you having done? Average cost for FULL face is about $250-300 per treatment and even with 5-6 treatments that would only add up to about $1800 tops.
If you have a lot of hair, laser should be ok as long as the hair is pretty dark and coarse and your skin is light, so that they can use at least 20 joules on GentleLASE. If they can't use those and higher settings or if your hair is sparse and not somewhat coarse, I would go with electrolysis. Plus, with electrolysis you won't get pepperspots (although some red dots are normal for a few days or a week). When we say coarse, we don't mean as coarse as bikini, but it has to be somewhat dark and definitely very visible.

Hello,
We think we can be some help to you by giving a few suggestion, after all we have been offering laser hair removal on several thousands clients with all skin types and hair colors.
First, lets talk about the dark dots. That sometimes happens and the best way to deal with it would be use of some form of exfoliant .This needs to be done very gently and repeated in your daily showering shedule. Remember, being rough will cause damage to skin. The black dots are not the hair itself, it is just part of shedding the part that covers the hair in the follicle.
To answer your second question, we do not agree with having 8 to 10 week gaps in between the treatments. By doing that "one would miss the boat". What we mean is that the hair has 3 stages of growth and to leave that length of time in between, makes it impossible to get the best results.
We have been using candelas lasers for last 7 1/2 years and keep in touch with most recent tecnology that they offer, by means of training as well as equipment. Also there is no way we agree with 8 to 10 weeks gap policy. We are sorry to say that this would be a waste of money .
We provide a complimentary consultaion and can go over all your questions if you decide to try us or for what ever reason you choose not to try us aleast do yourself a favor and look more into this matter.

Answer
treatments should be 6-8 weeks apart. basically, u go in as soon as a bunch of new hair shows up after shedding.
