There are no long term side effects from laser hair removal done in the hands of a professional. In dark skinned people, there is a small chance of darkening of the skin, but even in these rare cases, full reversal is usually seen within 6 months.
You said have tan skin. If you are naturally tan color, that is OK. If you have a tan from the sun, you must stay 100% out of the sun for 2 to 4 weeks prior to your treatment, depending on laser type. The less of a sun tan you have, the more effective your results will be and the less you will have short term effects, like small scabs or discolorations (again, rare if lasering done by a pro)
