bad brusing under one eye

Question
I had botox for the first time for crows feet. After five days, I had a bruise show up underneath my left eye. I also have one in the very corner of my left eye. The bruise at the injected site went away. I went back to the doctor yesterday, but he didn't understand why the bruises have appeared and has never seen this before. Has anyone else heard of this?

Answer
I can't believe your doctor said he never saw bruising before under the eye from botox! I never had bruising but I saw patients in the waiting room that did! I asked my doctor about the bruising and she said the skin is very thin under the eye and there are a lot of blood vessels,so it is easy to bruise. I am the one with complications after my last injections a year ago and would never do it again. Do you think it is worth the risk for a cosmetic improvement? It is a neurotoxin that has to be repeated 2 to 3 times a year forever, not a one time risk!

Answer
I had botox for the first time and had bruising in all three areas of injection. I had two - each side of my face for crows feet and one - forehead lines. The bruising on my forehead and left side were minimal. However, on my right side I had a bit of a lump under my eye/corner cheek area and it went from bright blue through every color in the book and now (2 weeks later), I finally have just a very, very slight yellow.
I was advised my my primary care physician of the facility within my network as to who to go to for laser hair removal. Since I was interested in Botox, I discussed just about everything with my doctor. I felt very well informed going into it (enough that I "just did it" with the Botox even though I was there for laser hair removal) and he did advise me about the bruising. He said that since I am fair, I have thin skin and then with it being under my eyes it was even thinner. I didn't think that the one area would be as bad as it was (thought they would all be more like the other two/slight areas) but feel like (and I am just guessing) that the injection went into a pocket area or something where it did not evenly distribute for about 4-5 days. I could tell since all the other areas felt heavier as my doctor said they would. The one area took longer and had a bump that evened out over time.
I hope that helps in some way. Yes, even though we put cold compresses on before and after the injections I still had bruising. I LOVE the outcome in my forehead!!!!! However, I am not sure about the eye area just because I look like I have been beat up for awhile. I think it really depends on your skin type.

I too just had Botox done for the first time in the eye area and am now left with a large lump, brusing and what looks like broken capillaries under one eye. This is not at all what I expected! I did this to prepare for an important event in a week and now am not sure what to do! Does anyone know how long this will last? HELP?!!

Answer
Your Doctor is kidding you. Injections in the arms, back of the hands, and eye muscles, including the forehead cause bruising - so what on earth his he on about. It will fade away in approx 7 days.
Probable cause; the needle used is the wrong size. I had bruising badly , the Doctor blamed the needle used and for my next injections used a finer needle. I still had bruising - but not so severe. Another factor is some Drs are rough, whilst others are gentle. If the injections hurt badly - then expect bruising. [Bob]

Answer
There are lots of blood vessels and if your doc has no finese then he/she will hit one and cause a bruise! Needle size doesn't matter it depends on how gentle! You can't be rough with that stuff! It is on the consent that you sign that bruising can happen!

Answer
I'm in the same boat as the others...I actually just had botox for severe migraine headaches and my doctor also gave me an injection under my eyes for my crows feet as well. I must say I would never do this for cosmetic reasons...the right eye injection stung and swelled immediately. The bruising started a day later and now 4 days later I'm dark purple in the inner corner of my eye and runs purple green to the outside corner but it looks like I was a in a really bad fight and lost ! I'm fair skinned and light haired so it totally stands out.
My only hope is that in a few more days this will fade...make up seems to make it worse. I even tried self tanner to mask the bruising...
Any suggestions on how to cover this up or help to make this fade would be appreciated.
