Just received my new laser hair removal system...

Question
OK, the wife wanted a laser hair removal system so I bought one.
Got the book on how to use it too. Can anyone point me in the direction of more info on HOW to use it? I want to read and absorb as much info as I can before I crank it up and start lasering the world.
Thanks.

Answer
that sounds awsome, i rather pay 4k than 9k that i was quoted, and be in the comfy of my house. please keep us posted on how the result goes please.

Answer
if you run a search on the forums on these DMD machines, there are no positive reviews, only negative. most of the home devices don't have enough energy to actually kill any hair. FDA won't allow it. but let us know how it goes.

Answer
In Texas there are no laws regarding their usage in homes. They tried, but the law got put on hold so I could still buy it. They are trying to make it a medical practice and limit the treatment to drs or those supervised by onsite physicians.
We got the big one, 10,000+ mW. So far, all we've done is take it out, apply the dye and try the laser shaving. In that respect, it's awesome. The hair just goes up in a puff of smoke! It's totally awesome. Of course, shaving is not the best way to go so we're wanting to study the deep tissue method which requires waxing, then the application of dye, then the laser treatment.
The thing is, I'm certain these things can cause severe burning so we're erring on the side of caution and wanting to learn about it before we attempt any permenent treatments. So...any online resources for HOW TO out there?
Thanks
Cliff

Answer
technically, if you're using any type of laser, the hair roots need to be there in order to kill the hair. so, shaving ONLY is allowed during laser treatments, NO waxing or plucking etc. I'm sure the same applies here.
don't they provide "how to" instructions?
i still urge you to run a few searches on DMD. there are a bunch of threads on the hairtell forum as well. lots of experiences with these machines. no positive. most say it doesn't work after several months of "giving it a chance"

CRP0499 --- READ THE LAST PART ON THE DMD9000 MODEL, INFORMATION PROVIDED DIRECTLY BY THE SELLER!!
SUMMARY: On July 2, 2005 I won a DMD6000 laser hair removal machine on eBay and sent payment right away via Paypal. After 2 weeks I contacted the seller by email to find out if my item was shipped. Paul Perel told me it would take 10-14 days from the time they received payment. On the 14th day I contacted the seller again, but he did not respond. I called the numbers on the website and continued to email him hoping for a response. Nothing. Finally, after waiting almost one month I emailed the seller asking him to refund my money because I no longer wanted the item. He responded quickly with a FedEx tracking number. By this time I had done some research and found this website
I was also concerned about his negative feedbacks and wished I had taken them into account from the beginning.
I asked the seller not to ship the item before it left his office, but he shipped it anyway. I told him I would reject the package when it came and that I would pay for the shipping along with any Paypal, eBay, and Customs fees. They said they wanted 35% return fee. Even though there is no return policy that states this rediculous return fee in his auctions, a fair refund was out of the question. After trying to resolve the matter directly with Medicam, I had no choice but to file a dispute with Paypal. I won the dispute, but Medicam withdrew their money and closed their Paypal account and I didn't get my money back even after they agreed to send me back a refund minus $500 to cover their cost. Now they only accept bank wire transfers, bank certified checks, and money orders in their auctions. I am still working on getting my money back. I have an attorney working on the case and I've filed claims with eBay, IFCC, BBB, FDA, and local Canadian police department.
The machine was sent back to the seller by FedEx, he put it back up on eBay and kept my money

Hi Mike,
We received the balance of $10.00 and we thanks you.
Once complete payment is made, we put the machine on
test for 10-14
business
days as disclosed in the listing because one thing you
and we want to
make
sure is that the output of the laser works at 100% and
not at 99%

we have to make

As soon as your machine will be ready for shipping, we
will send you

HI,
I'm sorry but we will also reject the delivery. Why
did you refuse it?
you
purchased it, we kept you informed, we sent it and it
cost us over
$80.00 to
ship it plus all the handling that we did not even
charged you,m admin
fees,
the customs that we assumed and never charged you, etc
plus the fact
that we
ordered that machine for you..... We run a business
here you know! We
followed all the ebay and paypal rules and we will
advise them of the
situation. If you want to cancel the transaction,
there's not only the
ebay
fees. Canadian customs will charge us again for the
redelivery and
we'll
have to fight like you cannot imagine to get the 2nd
charged amount
back. If
you want to cover our loss you'll have to assume 35%
of the total
price.
You can call us at the office on monday for a
settlement and please do
so
because according to our company policy and the
invoice included in
your
package, the unit is no longer ours as soon as it
leaves our premises
and we
would gladly like to settle this in a gentlemen way
rather than with
legal
action from your part or ours.

As I stated in my previous email. I will pay for
shipping costs ($65x2), ebay fees ($60), and actual
customs fees. I will need proof of actual customs fees
so I can verify it with customs. Clearly 35% is just
way too high. So please send me customs invoices or
receipts and I will gladly pay for these fees.
This is all very frustrating to me because I asked you
not to ship the product after waiting one month. It
is your fault that you shipped the item after I said
not to. In your ebay auction, there were no return
policies or anything that says you do not accept
returns. I actually do not consider this a return
since I never actually received and opened the package
and requested for this not to be shipped in the first
place.
I think that I am being more than reasonable.

Hi,
We are in business and our policy is Trust,Honesty and
Good Faith.
May be the Us customs did not charge customs when we
sent you this
machine
but do not forget that we import those machines and in
the price we are
selling them we included the Customs Fees and all the
business charges.
You said in one of your emails that you run a
business.
We are running a business too and we have charges
which include Customs
Fees.
We are not trying to steal our customers, we just want
to cover the
fees
attached to this sale.
We were not obliged to justify all the expenses and we
did it.
If I understand next step you will ask us a certified
copy of our
Financial
Statments, do we deal with auditors or are we just
trying to settle a
problem.
As I said at the beginning TRUST, HONESTY and GOOD

I am not asking you for any personal business
information, I simply asking you to show me your
customs cost so I may reimburse you those fees. It's
very simple, one small invoice. I am willing to work
with you on this, don't make it any harder than it has
to be. You can resell this item on ebay and make your
profit somewhere else. I sure you can see my point, if
you were a buyer, you wouldn't expect to pay $755 just
to get a refund. I will be willing to pay $300 to get
my refund. This should be more than enough to cover
your actual fees.

Hi Paul,
We received your fax. I noticed that it was for a
9.1kg package and you sent me a 4.7kg package, also,
the date of this FedEx invoice is June 21 and my
package was not sent until June 29th.
However, I just want to resolve this today. So, I am
willing to pay you what is listed below:
Customs fees $114.00 US (actual invoice)
Ebay fees $ 83.97 US (3%)
Paypal fees $ 83.97 US (3%)
shipping, handling, and insurance both ways $130.00 US
total $411.94
This is more than fair. So please refund me $2463.01
(I initially sent $2864.95, plus I sent an additional
$10.00 for insurance separately) minus $411.94 =
$2463.01.
You may also contact ebay and they will reimburse you
your ebay fees for this item number.

To: "Paul Medicam" <pperel@medicam.ca>
We just got off the phone with paypal and they said
that you may refund at anytime even if there is a
claim. Also, they said you should email them through
your paypal account with the agreed refund amount for
the dispute claim. If a refund is not made and you do
not send the email to paypal, I will be awarded the
full refund amount. So it is up to you now to refund
me the agreed amount, or Paypal will step in. My
following email that I send you, is what paypal sent
me a few moments ago.

IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME GET MY MONEY BACK FROM THESE CROOKS, PLEASE EMAIL ME
Oh no! I just found this site today as I became suspicious of Medicam and began searching around. I wish I found this site before I dealt with Medicam. I just paid Medicam $2,480 end August via electronic wire transfer. Phil told me they do not accept credit cards anymore because the credit card companies charge them a 3% charge. I'm getting nothing but the royal run-around from Paul when I call about the machine I purchased. They led me to believe it was in stock and after the transfer was made it would be shipped out without delay. 2 days later I phoned Medicam back. Paul told me due to hurricane Katrina they have not received their delivery from their mid-west source. Every time I call I am promised he will phone their plant and have my machine shipped directly to me and email me with a tracking number. I'm getting nothing and nowhere and no emails or tracking numbers. I took a chance at starting a home business and gave them what little money I left in my bank. Please somebody tell me this is not a scam?! I have no idea what to do if this is a scam and from what I have seen posted here it appears as though nobody is getting anywhere. I ran a search on this company at the BBB and they showed nothing on this company - absolutely zip, so I thought they were ok. Why doesn't the BBB have any info on this company at all???I'm sick to my stomach if this is really a scam. Is anyone doing anything or getting anywhere or taking any action? I have no idea what options I have now that an electronic wire transfer has been made to them. Someone help please? Thanks javelin
Wire transfer or not I have my Bank receipt of the transfer and saved all the correspondence between Medicam and me.
IF ANYONE HAS BEEN SCAMMED BY MEDICAM PLEASE EMAIL ME, EXPLAIN YOUR STORY BRIEFLY AND LET'S JOIN FORCES. I AM NOT CURRENTLY GIVING OUT MY EMAIL THROUGH WHICH I CORRESPONDED WITH MEDICAM SINCE THEY ARE MONITORING THIS SITE EVIDENTLY, BUT PLEASE SEND ALL EMAILS TO:
I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE FBI ON MY CASE UNDER MY MAIN EMAIL. THEY WANT THE NAMES OF ANY OTHER VICTIMS I MIGHT KNOW OF. EMAIL ME AND I WILL FORWARD THAT INFORMATION TO THE FBI.
Thanks.
Javelin
P.S. (If by some miracle Medicam delivers my machine in the condition it is supposed to be in and the machine works AS advertised on their site or if they give me a FULL refund I will be sure to tell you about it. But from what I have read here and heard via direct email from one "victim" that does not seem likely...particularly now that they're giving me the royal run-around. IF the machine does arrive here, I will be sure to open that package in the presense of at least 2 witnesses to be certain that it is in mint condition.)

QUAZAR “SO CALLED” DIODE LASERS
TESTS PERFORMED BY medicam OR/AND SOME OF medicam’S CUSTOMER
All the following are results after testing the units :
Report on the dmd12000lp from one of our customers in Bulgaria. He is an ingeneer.
1. It actually is constant wave laser instead of long pulse laser “with a pulse duration of 100 milliseconds”
2. The total emission power is 2,14W instead of 12 W “The DMD12000lp produces 12,005mW of 808nm and 910nm laser output”.
3. The pulse frequency can not be adjusted instead of “Pulse frequency is user-adjustable from 3-300 emissions per second”. The pulse frequency regulator regulates a sound buzzer only.
4. The laser has not got “adjustable output” as described. Intensity regulator which is intended to do so actually turns the system off or on.
5. The Laser Emission Indicator doesn’t work properly and may mislead the operator. The display shows 214 when the laser is not active and 154 when the laser is active. There is no subordination between the Intensity regulator, LED display and actual output power of the laser.
6. The so called “laser protection eyewear” stop only 75% of laser emission instead of 98% to 99%. Having in mind that regular sunglasses stop 50% to 60% of the laser emission our “laser protection eyewear” are a bit darker sunglasses.
7. The model designation is not visible neither on the driver unit nor the hand piece. It is not possible to determine which model exactly we have received.
8. Some misleading texts are readable on the driver unit: “Module Input Characteristics 1.5000 ma 5.000 KmV” and “Output Characteristics 350 to 1000 MJ/sec”. It is strange because a measurement unit as KmV doesn’t exist and 1000 MJ/sec is the power produced by a 1000 MV electricity plant.
Report on the dmd9000lp
This is a letter sent by one of our customer. We decided to cancel our contract with CBA for their so called Lasers and we decided to provide the Futur potential customers of these so called Quazar units with the exact content of this customer tests on the dmd9000lp. It starts below:
Listed deficiencies with the DMD9000
1. Unsafe Wiring/soldering practices. One of the 120VAC wires (which are ENERGIZED at ALL times unit is plugged in) has a defective shrink tube. IF this solder joint was to contact a case it could result in a lethal injury to anyone touching the case.
2. Unit is NOT LP (Long Pulse) the Diode Modules are NOT pulsed in any way! As long as the hand held switch is pressed, the diodes are energized. If you want proof of this, simply remove the 555-timer chip from Canakit 191 Timer PCB (Printed Circuit Board). As you will see once the timer is inactivated simply depressing the hand switch energizes the CW (Constant Wave) Diodes and they are energized CW for as long as the switch is depressed. The 555-timer circuit pulses only the small RED LED. Why do you pulse the Red Led? Is this to make the client think the laser is pulsed? Oddly enough the same voltage circuit drives the LED and the diodes, just the red led has been pulsed. So why is this advertised as a "LONG PULSE" device? This constant state of energy brings me to my next issue.
3. Diodes not properly mounted. For CW Diodes to remain energized continuously, they should mounted to an adequate heatsink. There is no heat sink material near the diode modules. Simply gluing the Modules to a thin strip of Aluminum then placing them into the handheld device would have given at least a modest thermal dissipation medium.
4. USED COMPONENTS! This may not be an actual deficiency, but one would expect for the cost of this machine that it would have NEW electrical components! To be specific, the power supply that is used to drive the laser modules is USED! It appears to be a salvage part from some sort of Consumer electronic device. You can see were the wires were once attached to the device! The unit in mine is a Lambda G0079D Power Supply. This was a common Power supply in many small Home stereo systems. The real shame is that this Power supply could have been purchased as a new component for less than $200 USD. The real problem with this is thoroughly covered in the next paragraph.
5. The USED Power Supply is inadequate for what it is being used for! The power supply is rated for 3.3V@15A The power requirement for a typical Laser Diode Module is 2.0-2.1V@7A as you can see to fully power three Laser Diodes would require 21A with a stable 2V Power Supply. Although the total wattage of this power supply meets the requirement, the power supply voltages are not correct. As a result the Laser Diode Modules are only receiving approximately 80% of their required power. A twenty percent reduction in power may not sound significant until you take into account the fact that Laser Diode Modules are NOT Linear! A Twenty- percent reduction in input power to a Laser Diode Module results in approximately a FOURTY percent reduction in OUTPUT power. The power supply in my unit tested at a max of 1.84V. As you can determine, this is not enough power for the Laser Diode Modules.
6. The "METER" on the Driver Console is incorrectly wired. The Meter is wired in such a way as to place two DIFFERENT Vcc on the DATA pins of the Digital Display Device. What exactly is the Meter supposed to be measuring? If the meter is supposed to be measuring the Voltage Applied to the Laser Diode Modules, The meter will require an A to D Voltage converter circuit. Sounds expensive? The Complete Digital Voltage Panel meter is available from CANAKIT (Where the 555 timer circuit came from) for less than $20USD. By applying Vcc to "DATA" pins one could get almost any reading as the pins pass from one state to another.
7. Laser Diode Modules are of questionable manufacture. The Diodes have no markings whatsoever! The Diodes are even of two differing sizes. This leads me to believe they are also derived as salvage from a questionable source. Numerous calls to Coherent have confirmed that Coherent has never knowingly sold or supplied any laser diode modules to Quasar.
8. Flimsy design of handpiece, which leaves “EXTREMELY DELICATE” optical fibers, exposed to likely breakage. A Quite simple design of hard material, which encases the fibers, would protect them and make them viable for a long-term future. This could be designed into the handpiece for a couple of dollars.
9. Timing system. I have just read one of the ads. It states that the Pulse duration is 100 microseconds. This is quite interesting since the system does not even pulse the CW Laser Modules. If you want absolute proof that the Diodes are not pulsed, remove the 555 timer IC. You will discover that you can power the diodes by depressing the handpiece switch. Even if they were pulsed by the 555-timer circuit, how could they be pulsed at 100 microseconds? Do you think that a hobbyist Kit built timer is capable of producing a pulse width of 100 microseconds? This is faster than you can open and close the contacts on a typical relay. More important is the fact that even if the Module drive current were to controlled by 555-timer the maximum current ability of the timer circuit is only 3A. This would never power the diodes fully.
Now I have another question if you have actually read this.
Were you duped by Quasar? Have you never opened the cabinet of an item that you sell? Or, did you know this was a sham and choose to participate in this sham with full knowledge of the deceptive device that you are selling?
PLEASE REFUND MY MONEY! I will leave your company graciously if you simply refund me my money.
Now what should all this cost with correct components (12-15 units)? All Prices are USD.
Aluminum Project Box 30
Silk Screening Graphics 10
Power cord and receptacle 4
Knobs switches 8
Misc Receptacle (10 pin DIN) 7
555imer Circuit (From Canakit) 15
Small Power supply for Timer 30
Correct Voltmeter Panel display 35
misc Wiring 5
Brass pieces)w/ machining) 10
Laser Power Supply
(To replace inadequate salvage unit)
OR by using at least two of the salvage units the system would have adequate power for the diodes.
(2.2V @ 60A 250
Misc Potentiometers 3
Handpiece (Battery Case) 5
Misc Switches 6
Red LED Pointer 2
Total Costs ---------------
Less Diode Modules 420
Approximately 3 Labor hours to assemble the device with semi trained labor. (MY 14-year-old son can solder these wires and assemble this device in 4 hours at a pay rate of $6/ hour) So not expensive labor is required.
Testing??? There are only three variable potentiometers, which should take a total of ONE minute to adjust. Basically there is nothing else to adjust. This is all the testing that CAN be done! There are NO adjustments for a CW Laser Diode Module!
Diode Modules are of questionable price. However in the included literature the price for a replacement handpiece which includes three Diodes is listed at less that $800 USD and this is for single unit RETAIL part replacement price. I will let the Reader figure out the price for the diodes. But for argument sake lets say the three Fiber Coupled Diodes cost $550 Wholesale.
As You can see this unit cost less than $1000 to produce With the CORRECT components and wiring. Why would they build it for less than $1000 and produce a shoddy device, which is sure to bring the IRE of their customers?
So Paul and Phil, are you victims? Have you been duped by quasar also?
Please reply with your instructions for my refund.
Thank You
Ed Youngblood
That is it and I hope that now you can understand why WE WILL NOT REPRESENT THAT KIND OF COMPANY EVER. Of course, we gave full refund to that customer who helped us open our eyes.
The next page will be what we realized ourselves and what measures will be taken to compensate our existing customers. We really apologize! We had in mind to provide our customers with the best possible unit for hair removal and certainly not to fool anyone. Our sincere apologies for all the trouble most of you had to deal with. Our pending orders for any dmd series are already being switched for the medicam MD-Series ( MD stands for Medical Device). All of our customers will be contacted in a very short term.
THE REALITY
- We were receiving “so called brand new units” when most of the time the machines were used. After receiving complains from our clientele we finally decided to check the units before sending them…..SURPRISE! the units are at over 50% used or refurbished. We were charged by CBA for brand new units when we were receiving used ones. Since the machines were suppose to be brand new, we never opened the boxes to check them. Today we are at 100% sure about it and we have proof of it.
- Even worse, some of the machines were sent in a defective condition.
- They know that you will send back your units to get it fixed.
- Service delay takes forever unless you harass them everyday.
- These machines work for pin point hair removal if you are willing to spend a lifetime trying to remove your hair on one leg. You can trust us, we were one of their distributors.
- We have nothing to do with such a Company, we are a totally separated company.
- WE OFFER TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS TO UPGRADE THEIR UNITS BY THE NEW MD SERIES ( MD stands for MEDICAL DEVICE ) THAT WE MANUFACTURE. DIODES ARE FROM THE USA, IPL LIGHTS ARE FROM JAPAN AND GERMANY, BOARDS ARE FROM ASIA, CANADA AND USA, AND LAST, CASING DESIGN IS FROM CANADA AND MANUFACTURED IN SHANGHAI.
- ALL ELECTRONIC BOARD ARE PROTECTED WITH A METAL GRILL, THE DIODE MODULES ARE INTERNALLY COOLED SINCE THE BOX IN WHICH THE DIODE MODULE IS, HAS AN INTERNAL COOLING DEVICE SO THAT THE LASER HAND PIECE DOES NOT OVERHEAT.
- ALL THE DIODE LASERS HAVE EITHER A LED SCREEN OR A COLOR TOUCH SCREEN FOR EXACT SETTINGS
- WE WILL CREDIT OUR CUSTOMERS WILLING TO UPGRADE THEIR MACHINE THE FULL AMOUNT (100%) THEY WERE CHARGED FOR. THEY WILL JUST ASSUME THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICING. NONE OF THE CUSTOMERS WILL HAVE TO ASSUME THE SHIPPING FEES ONCE MORE. WE WILL PAY TO SHIP THE NEW UNITS. PLEASE RETURN YOUR OLD EQUIPMENT SINCE WE WILL NEED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE UNITS TO KEEP THEM AS A PROOF SINCE WE MIGHT TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THEM.
- UNFORTUNATELY, WE CANNOT SIMPLY REFUND ANY CUSTOMER BECAUSE AS WE SAID, WE WERE ALSO VICTIMS AND ALSO PAID FOR THESE UNITS. WE ARE WILLING TO LOOSE A BIG AMOUNT OF MONEY BY UPGRADING THE UNITS CONSIDERING THAT THERE IS A PRICE TO PAY FOR OUR CUSTOMERS SATISFACTION.
- TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA, AN MD-15 IS ABOUT 6 TIMES THE SIZE OF A dmd9000lp
- MD-50 AND MD-100 ARE EVEN BIGGER AND HEAVIER. (ABOUT 8 TIMES)
PLEASE ACCEPT OUR SINCERE APOLOGIES. WE WERE VICTIMS AS MUCH AS YOU WERE, AND MAY BE EVEN MORE. WE NEVER HAD IN MIND TO FOOL ANYONE, WE WANTED TO BUILD A VERY GOOD REPUTATION IN THAT FIELD AND YOU CAN TRUST THAT WE WILL MAKE ANY POSSIBLE EFFORT TO ADJUST OURSELVES TO THE LEVEL THAT YOU WERE ALL EXPECTING.
AGAIN, WE APOLOGIZE. THANK YOU ANDREA A MILLION TIMES BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE YOU HELPED US STOP DREAMING AND OPENED OUR EYES TO THE HARSH REALITY.
SINCERELY,

Answer
following your advice, I just signed up for the hairtell forum and will begin my search.
There is a book, which I ordered but it doesn't arrive til tomorrow. In the mean time, they have a short setup and usage guide.
As I said, we ordered the high end laser with lots of power. When we went to a local consultation to see what the pros were using, the biggest we saw was 2,500 mW so, using that as a guide, I feel we have lots of power.
The guide says that the most effective way to make this happen is to wax or tweeze the hair so there is an empty folicle. Then we are to apply a carbon based dye to fill the folicle shaft. Then we are to laser. The quick use guide says the carbon dye is the conduit for the laser energy and that the folicle will no longer grow hair is this method is followed correctly.
Two weeks ago (the machine was a Christmas present) we waxed an area about the size of a quarter and then lasered it. So far, the hair in that spot has not grown back but the area around it has so although it's not a good cross section, it "appears" to be working. However, moving to larger areas with so little experience is not an option.
Most of the negative stuff I read on the DMDs were on the low end, weaker models. Although the negative stuff was abundant, I'm hoping the higher end models do better.

Talk about making your stomach hurt! Looks like this is not a good thing!
So far, everything seems to be in order. When I ordered mine, I e-mailed them and ask for a phone call. A nice lady named Cynthia called me and talked with me about the machines. We spoke several times before I placed my order online. I asked for overnight shipping and I received overnight shipping.
The unit appears to be in order. It's new. It has a model number on it (the same one we ordered) and from what I can tell, it does what it says it does. It burns wood I know that cos I tested it on the carbon paper and on my desk!
It's still too early to tell anything really. I want to read the book and make sure I have my ducks in a row before I attempt to do any visible area on my person or on my wife. After 25 years in sports medicine, I've seen plenty of seemingly harmless modalities cause lots of harm!
Often times if modalities are not used correctly, they present the appearance of not working. It could be a non-present conductor, it could be user error or it could be a bad machine or a scam. It's just too early to tell. As I said earlier, the laser shaving was like something out of Star Trek. We put on the dye, cleaned off the excess and man oh man did it burn the hair.
I'll keep reading and researching and keep you guys posted on our progress and thank you so much for the quick and thorough responses.

My wife and I went for a consultation today to see what type of equipment they used and to see the application. The system was made by a company named Coherent and it HUGE in size. The head and cable were much larger and more "serious" looking than what we have.
Anyone have any experience with Coherent Diode systems?
Thanks
Cliff

Answer
This is the LightSheer machine, a diode, and one of the best on the market, especially the new XC model. This is a popularly used machine at clinics. It's good for skin types I-IV. Settings need to be set at 30 joules and higher for best results, but best as high as you can go without burning the skin. This is not home use machine, they cost $50,000k and up as all lasers at professional hair removal clinics.

Answer
YIKES! A little out of my price range should the DMD not work. Thanks for the info! It looked pretty tough! Like something out of Star Trek.
Cliff

Answer
Ok, we lasered the left leg last weekend and waited one week to see if there was any noticeable difference. The way we did it was this:
We waxed the leg, applied carbon dye to the empty follicle shaft, and then applied the laser using the deep tissue method explained in the book. The right leg was left alone to we could use it to compare.
The left leg does show some hair growth, and I'd say it's between 80 and 90% of the right leg. However, what hair did grow back is not nearly so long as the hair on the right leg. So it seems that IF there was any impact on the hair growth as a result of using the DMD, it's minimal thus far.
I did receive the book on how to use the machine and I'm learning more about hair than I ever wanted and some of the pictures aren't too pleasant, but the book indicates that it will take several treatments before we see any REAL results. The book also indicates that TOTAL hair removal forever is not likely.
So, we're going to wax both legs again, repeat the process and see next week how things look. Oh, I should also report that there is no burning or anything on the leg. I'm using the laser on it's lowest setting and trying no to be too aggressive.
Perhaps with a little convincing, I can get some before and after pics on my web site.
That's my update. More next week…
Cliff

Answer
thanks for the update. keep us posted. btw, you should probably take into consideration that if you wax in general, it takes about 4-6 weeks for the hair to return even if you don't use any product. so probably a good idea to use that in your analysis to not mistake general waxing aftereffects for this machine's effect.

Answer
and these waxing strips we use are bought from a drug store. you heat them in your hand and then use them. very small strips and not very effective if you ask me. I'm beginning to think this whole hairless thing is too much work!

Answer
yes, those are not very effective. a better way to wax is to get wax and strips and heat it up yourself etc as they do in salons.
