Question
I am interested in starting treatments on my forehead hairline and would like to know everyone's opinion and or experiences. My hair is dark blonde to light brown and my skin (on my forehead) is fair. My hair is very thick and very coarse. My nurse uses a Yag so I think I am headed in the right direction. Here is my question....since the hair is so abundant here will it be very painful? Can the laser be adjusted to make an accurate but natural hairline? My hairline has progressively filled in towards my eye brows since age 20. If I didn't shave it back it would almost meet my eyebrows. Any suggestions to what I should look for (or ask) when I go to have this done? Has anyone had good results with this area?

laser doesn't work on blond hair. sounds like you might have some pigment for laser to be attracted to, but I wouldn't use a Yag since it's probably not powerful enough for lighter hair. I would do a test spot with either an alexandrite or diode laser at high settings first and see if you experience shedding etc. If not, electrolysis would be the way to go. It's also easier to shape with electrolysis since hair is removed one by one. With laser, small spot size needs to be used (area covered with one pulse) to avoid inaccuracy and of course tech needs to be very precise.

Hi,
You can have laser hair removal in any area of the body including the hairline. What is important when one decides to do hair removal with laser on the forehead area or hairline, to define the area or the shape with a water color base marker in a light color. And then shave anything beyond that line.
It is highly recommended to use a few layers of white paper towel and cover the area that is not going to be treated this is a very important part of removing the hair while using the laser on the hairline area. The thicker the paper towels, the better it will be to prevent the laser from penatrating and reaching the folicles on the hair line that are not being removed.
If you have dark blonde or brown colored hair, it can be treated with most lasers. The best test for knowing if it works or not is when you are doing the treatment, you can smell the singing hair, that means the laser works. Incase a lot of hair on the surface get bleached by the natural sun, and the hair in the folicle portion is darker, so it is hard to say whether the laser would work or not. But in most cases if you have at least some pigment, it will work. If you have an inquiries, please ask.
