Question
Hi. I am 32 years old and ready to get hair-free! After years of struggling with hair I am finally ready to do something about it. I have a 3-year-old who wants to go swimming, but I won't take him to the pool because of my hair problem I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TAKE MY SON TO THE POOL!!!! Especially without being in the bathroom for 3 hours prior and red and itchy and bumpy the next day(s)!
I have read SEVERAL of the postings and am learning so much. I did the online consultation thing and since I have light-med. skin and dark hair I was advised to do the LightSheer. Does this sound right to everyone???
I have read so many "successful" reviews and so many "unsuccessful" reviews that it is hard to decide what to do, but since I have done everything else, electrolysis--which was too slow and too painful.. yet successful in the spots that were done--just have TOO MUCH HAIR, nair--too messy and only lasts like shaving, shaving--too much upkeep and irritated red skin, waxing--had to let hair grow out and itchy when it comes back in plus painful! So, this is my only hope!!!
Anyway, I see that noone has suggested a place in Ohio. Anyone out there with a suggestion? I have found a couple of places in Wooster, Cleveland, and Columbus, but no info on them here. Columbus would be the best for me. I have heard of a place called Reflections, but no reviews. Please let me know ANY info on a place in Columbus!! I would be so appreciative of ANY help.
Also, my problem areas are bikini plus thighs, belly and chin. I would like to know how anyone lets their dark hair grow out on their chin??!! I have light skin and dark hair with several hairs popping out each day!
ANY ANY ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks so much everyone

Also, what credentials should I be looking for? Should a MD be doing this? I see several credentials and don't know what they mean. Also, how many years experience should I be looking for? Thanks!
Answer
you need to stop waxing and plucking at least 5-6 weeks before treatments begin. shaving is fine, so most do that.
for light skin, either a diode or alexandrite type lasers are best. LightSheer is one type of a diode. Popular alexandrites are GentleLASE and Apogee lasers.
Have a few consultations even if u dont find recommendations. Also, look for some on the other 2 forums, hairtell and consumer beware by kitty. might have something there in your area that's recommended.
you can also check Candela website for provider search for GentleLASE. Cynosure website might haev one for Apogee.
Results are best on coarse dark hair and light skin with laser, so sounds like you're a good candidate. It's very important to find a good tech and make sure they use maximum settings that your skin can handle for best and fastest results, without burning your skin. That's why experienced tech is needed.
