Question
Hi;
Reading a bit about on here, i have booked my LHR for a large part of my body for tomorrow. The tech seemed to think it was ok for me to continue even considering my odd work schedule. I work away on cruise ships for 4 months on/2 months off. So i would maybe be able to get treatment once, then be away for 4 months, then maybe get 2 treatments in at one time.
How wil this affect the treatment, obvioulsy it will slow it down...
BTW im in devon in england and i am paying about 750 for full back, neck, tops of arms, chest, abdomen, buttocks and some brazilian.
Thanks.

Answer
Especially when you just start out, it's very important to stay on schedule, which is treatments about every 6-8 weeks. Laser can only kill hair in first stage of growth, anagen, and spacing treatments 4 months apart doesn't allow to catch hairs in that phase. You would pretty much need a lot more treatments overall since you will barely kill any hair each time.

Hi Blink;
From what i understood it, there is always hair in each stage of growth, dormant, growing and grown. So i will just catch a different set of hairs when i go back as there will be some in the growing stage at all times?
Do you mean that when i first get lasered (it was today) this will reset all my hairs to the growing stage, so that the theoretical next time in 8 weeks would then catch almost all in the growing stage?
Thanks for the help, S.
Answer
They way I understand it is that the hairs that you just had treated will be killed (at least, most of 'em). Those hairs will shed and then there will be a period of hairlessness. Then, you'll see hairs growing which are the hairs that came out of the resting phase and have entered the active phase. There will still be other hairs that are in the resting phase even though you've got those "new" hairs showing. So, about 3-4 weeks after these "new" hairs appear, they should be zapped as they will be in the active phase. If you wait too long, then they will reach the next phase which will be too late for the laser to do anything to them. By catching these hairs while they are in the active phase, you will be able to get them taken care of. About 8 or so weeks later (after shedding and hairlessness), you'll have a new crop of hair that has entered the active phase. So, the idea is to stay on top of it so that you don't miss the opportunity to get hairs treated while they are in the active phase. If you wait too long, then those hairs won't get properly treated and will grow back later thereby extending your time and quantity of treatments.
Hope this makes sense.
Answer
the basic idea is that if you don't stay on treatments you don't catch the maximum amount of hairs in anagen each time, thereby extending your overall # of treatments needed.
