Answer
are you male or female? have you explored the cause of the extreme hairiness?

Answer

Hello princessdog
Just read your post and would like to say I too have this problem. People say to me "oh I need to get my b line done or I am fed up with shaving my legs" I wish that was all I had to do. Consider thick individual black hairs ( no more like sticks) on my neck, boobs, stomach the list goes on so much so I can only concentrate on one area a night.
I really understand how you feel and I believe that the reply you have had about addressing the cause of the hair is excellent advice. I have come to the conclusion that I have a hormone inbalance because the situation has got worse even though I have only plucked the individual hairs with tweezers over a number of years only to find others springing up - my boyfriend has recently found a lone thick black hair on my back and in my ear!
I am about to embark on a course of contaceptive pills that give me more oestrogen, with these and the laser treatment I give myself at home I really hope this is going to make a difference - I can only try. Salon treatment is not an option for me yet.
Have you thought to save money buying a home laser kit?
Something to cheer you up - my 6 year old daughter for some reason only known to her suddenly lifted my top up at a barbeque and revealed my part plucked chest to a group of strangers. They pretended not to notice but in the spirit of gone with the wind I vowed I would "never be hairy again!"
Good luck and don't get downhearted.

Answer
natalie, have you seen an endocrinologist to determine the exact problem and were u prescribed specific pills to take care of the problem?

Answer
Hi there
No, first went to my doctor about two years ago on the UK National Health Service who diagnosed a problem with Oestrogen Vs Testrosterone levels. He first issued me the pills but I declined to take them at the time because I do not take birth control pills and I wanted to see if the problem went away or lessened after regular waxing / plucking Situation has got steadily worse however with the hairs in other areas getting progressivly darker in colour.
I have recently been to see another doctor under private medical care who has prescribed the same pills. Since I do not take the birth control pill as of yet I thought I would now give them a try to improve the situation until the laser treatment kicks in and then review the situation.

Answer
if you have this diagnozed issue, that's what's causing the growth and removing the hair that's currently there, even with laser, will not give you any permanent results since your body will keep developing new hair due to the imbalance. the recommended solution in your case is to start on the hormonal treatments to get your hormone levels back to normal first and then start laser treatments once it's under control. that way you will see results.

Answer
Thanks for the advice - I had never really considered the imbalance issue that much but of course it makes sense. All that effort for no benefit is a no no for me.
Looks like I may be taking the pills for longer than I thought

Answer
is there a reason why you're afraid to get on the pills? in your case, you might experience less painful periods and other positive effects (besides less hair growth)
