Question
Hi I am an Indian male with type 4 skin looking for some insight into LHR. I would like to have the procedure done on my chest and arms, both of which are slightly darker than olive skin with black hair. Some of the hair is coarse while some parts are finer. Based upon what I have read it seems as though a nd: Yag laser would be best suited for me, can anyone tell me if this is true or if there is another laser thats best for my needs. Also can anyone recommend any practictioners or centers in Los Angeles that are reputable. I have tried the search on the forum but have not read anything about credibility. Thanks in advance

Answer
Yag laser would probably be best, although you will see best results on coarse hair with it. A diode like LightSheer might be ok, but only if your skin can handle settings of about 30 joules or so. To be safe, I would go with a Yag.
You can do a provider search on Cutera (Coolglide laser) and Candela (GentleYag) websites and start doing consultations. I'm in LA, but haven't read any feedback on good Yag practitioners. I know the place in Torrane Celebre has a Yag. I'm sure there are many others though. There are tons of places here in LA. Someone on Kitty's site recommended a place in West Hollywood that uses LightSheer as well, on Santa Monica blvd.
