First treatment

Question
I had my first treatment 2 weeks ago. Light sheer diode. The method was a gliding type with a very light compression. I didn't find it painf just an occassional rubberband snap. I was treated initially at just under 30 joules and moved up to 33 joules. My skin did fine with only a few red bumps which vanished after 2 days. I have had very minimal shedding at best. The hairs are coming in and if I pull on them they are well seated and don't appear to want to come out.... as if I were trying to pluck them before ever having laser. Of course I just leave them alone.
Should I call back to the facility and let them know this since maybe these hairs weren't damaged, and I may need to go over them again? Also they don't want to do my next treatment for 12 weeks stating it takes that long for body hair roots to be ready to treat. I did my shoulders and upper back. My hair was not dense but was darker than my skin.
Thanks for your replies.

Answer
12 weeks? That seems odd. Most places ask that you come back for your next treatment in 4-6 weeks as per the growth cycle. I'd call and ask them about that.

Answer
I thought that was a bit long as well, so I asked again before I left. They said that hair on the back and shoulders took longer for the roots to grow and be ready for another treatment????? I haven't seen that comment posted anywhere else on this forum.

Answer
I guess its possible. Maybe someone who has had the area treated can be of more help.

Rhea,
In a post in another thread I saw that you are in Atlanta and were considering using WIFH. Who did you end up going with? I am about to start my consultations at various places and would appreciate any feedback you have based on your experiences.
Thanks ....

Answer
it sounds like you're being treated at one of the national chains. those usually set up treatment times to "navigate customer traffic", rather than with your best interests in mind. I would insist on coming in as soon as dormant hair shows up after shedding and hairfree period. For most, that's about 8 weeks when you start and goes up to 10 weeks or so after 2-3 treatments on the areas you're treating.
I would wait until a 3 week mark to judge the shedding. For me, it only starts at about 2.5 weeks. With LightSheer, the settings are judged not only by joules, but also by long or short pulse. For maximum effectiveness you should be treated at at least 30 joules and with a short pulse. What is your skin and hair color? For the areas you're treating, the settings should be at least 30 and higher. And if you barely felt anything as you stated, then I would say the settings were probably at long pulse and too low. But like I said, I would wait until 3 week mark to make conclusions.

CEF97, I live in Tallahassee, FL but have to travel to Atlanta frequently. I wanted to go to a individually owned clinic; therefore, I was going to go to WIFH. I got impatient and tried a local chain( your correct blink) since I wasn't going to get to Atlanta until late Feb. I am set up @ WIFH then and I feel I will have a better result. I have not heard from anyone else in regards to WIFH but I have spoken with them on 2 occassions. I too would like to hear from someone. My skin color I don't feel is very dark about type 3. Maybe I should have waited until I went to Atlanta but you know curiosity kills the cat.

I read your post, and I like to give some some of my opinions on your concerns. My name in Mina Bowker, I have been a laser specialist at Azure Day Spa and Laser Center for the last 8 1/2 years.
Laser is a procedure that you must look at as a whole. The first 3-4 treatments that are done at first are done once a month, and afterwards the intervals become longer. It is very important to follow monthly schedule for the first few treatments because hair cycle in everybody grows in 14 weeks from the very first day of the anagen until the last stage of telogen.
As far as the joules, their strength is not always necessarily accurate, it very much depends on individual devices, how they have been maintained, and how often they have been serviced. We hope this will be somewhat helpful to you. If you would like to know more in depth, you can see us here:

Thank you for your reply. It sounds like there is a general consensus that I should follow up much sooner than advised. I will find out what pulse width was used also. Thanks
