Neo demium laser/yag versus laser/radio frequency

Question
I am trying to decide which method is better. I had the cut*** laser on my face and the Syn*** laser/radio freq.....is the later more like thermage? It seems the laser alone was easier to use...had a good cooling system while the other hurt more? and needed a $10,000 cooling unit. Any one out there to help? Both claim to be good? Opinions?

Answer
what is your skin and hair color? which cutera laser was used? it's a company that makes various lasers. Was it Coolglide Yag? Was the other one the Comet diode/RF laser? What you're naming are manufacturers, not types of lasers....so it's hard to help u out.

Answer
The Cutera machine was the Titan with the ND/Yag...very nice. The Syneron machine was the top of the line Yag/radio frequency machine. Also the "top of the line." I hope this helps define whcih machine would be better? The sales people are very confusing. Does just the laser work without the pain of a thermage type/radio wave? Does the laser really penetrate as far and do as well?

Answer
the best laser for you is determined by your skin and hair type, not whether the sales people say it's "top of the line" or not. they all say their laser that they're selling is. are you looking to purchase a laser for a business or for yourself? it's not clear. if you provide more information on what you are looking to get out of this, we can give better advice.

Answer
Hi there,
I mentioned before that I have used every type of laser and Ipl device on the market since 1997. The altus coolglide 1064 nm series is a great proven laser for treating all skin types even tanned skin.. The laser was the first to get fda approval for all skin types for permanent reduction. This machine is proven technology that is in wide use now in the field of hair removal. It has been is use for at least 6 years. Titan is an upgrade to the coolglide but is not for anything but skin tightening using dermal heating of the deep layers of the skin to tighten flabby areas of the body and face.. Laser genesis is also what the coolglide can do which is the opposite. it is dermal heating of the surface of the skin for redness poresize and skin tone. Syneron has a few machines they use the principle of radio frequency thought 2 metal bars. the light delivery is either a diode laser or an intense pulsed light crystal depending on which model you get. I used this machine for 5 months and the rf current burned clients if not placed properly on the sin. you can see the machines on the secondary market for 70% less than there original cost.. Everyone feels there laser is the best but the best is a laser that is proven has a great track record of safety and client satisfaction and the feedback of the public who actually pay for these treatments and are non biased regarding how sucessful the treatment was. Thats why we use the Cutera Coolglide and the LighSheer diode laser in our practice. The built a reputation and clients ask for them by name.. Hope this information helps.

Answer
Which one of these are better for Type V skin, thick hair?

Answer
any Yag laser

Answer
Hey Indiangal, run a search for YAG lasers on this forum and read more. The Coolglide, GentleYag, Lyra-i and Sciton are the most popular.

Answer
Make sure it's not a q-switch YAG, those are for tattoo removal, but some businesses are advertising them for hair removal. Needs to be a LP (long pulsed) Nd:YAG.
