2 recommended places in NYc are romeo&juliet and Lynda (nurse). there are also a few places in NJ that ppl have been generally happy with, but they're usually more expensive because only doctors can perform this procedure there i believe. you can find all these recommendations by using the search feature.
Answer
suprise no one replied about their experiences. This question wasn't really for me, i allready made up my mind on doing it, but some people would find this very usefull. I will deff put my experience in here for others.
So whoever actually have done the procedure should take 10 sec, and write.
Answer
you can read about my experience under "Update on my results so far". It's kind of a pain to repost the same thing numerous times since this question comes along every couple of days, so it's easier for us to just start a thread and keep updating as treatments progress. you can also run a search for "update" and you will probably find other stories.

I have been through lhr for various body areas for the past 2 years. I just started my own Laser Hair Removal place in the Five Points area of Raleigh, NC. I got treatment at various places and now I treat myself.
I can tell you a couple of things:
1) YAG is definitly less abrasive to middle eastern skin. I have treated myself on YAG and Alexandrite. My skin is darker (type 4) and Alexandrite even at a lower setting caused some topical burns.
2)Make sure the technician uses the highest setting that is safe for your skin and comfortable for your pain threshold. As blink888 tells you, you waste your time and money if the setting is too low for your skin and hair type.
Answer
2-3 treatments is not enough to make any conclusive conclusions about how successful your treatments were. Most people require at least 6 and to be honest i would say that for men this number is much much higher, i guess it depends on how hairy you are but most guys have LHR probably start off like apes. I've had 13 treatments on full upper torso, front and back, 2 on arms, 4-5 on butt/groin.
It has been 4.5 months since my 13th treatment. My estimates on % reduction are as
Chest : 75%
Abs : 85% +
Back : 70%
Shoulders : 60% +
Butt/Groin : 75% ( last treatment here was about 9months ago)
Given that it has been almost 5 months i'm guessing not much more will grow back now, maybe a little. My shoulders are not as good as other areas however there is still a massive visible difference to what they were like at the start. I like to measure things by looking in the mirror and trying to imagince what i would look like from a few feet away, i can tell you that i look almost hairless from a few feet but up close its much more noticeable, especially on my shoulders, still not bad, maybe my shoulders could do with some more treatments. I think at this stage though i can just keep things tidy with a couple of treatments a year, we'll see in another few months.
Setting etc I think were,
Laser : Gentlelase +
Spot Sizes / energy
Treatments 1,2 : 18mm @ 18J
Treatments 3,4 : 18mm @ 20J
Treatments 5-13 : 15mm @ 35J
Treatments spaced 6 - 9 weeks apart
cheers

Answer
I think every one who will go through LHR should know their settings, and compare it with others.
I am/will have those info for you as soon as i get started and will post something as OSH has posted.
Thanks OSH, and you should keep us updated.

Hi,
its now been over 6 months since i stopped and i have a good feeling that i won't have much more regrowth as it does not appear to have changed in the last 2 months.
I guess i'll feel more confident about that in another 6 months as i think the growth cycle varies on each area, 6 months though i think is a good milestone. If anyone has any idea what the typical growth cycles are for upper body i'd love to hear.
When i think about how hairy i used to be i think maybe my earlier estimates of reduction may have been a bit pessimistic. My shoulders had the least amount of reduction but i guess being fair it might be more like 70%, its hard to remember now. My chest, abs and back are at least 90% i think.
I remember all the way up to the last treatment being worried about the long term results as you just don't know until you stop treatments, particularly about the shoulders, i think you kind of have this image that at the end of your program you'll be totally smooth, the way you are after treatment. Its just not like that so don't get stressed out if you still see hair coming back 6 weeks after treatment, you can only get 10%+ per treatment anyway so it is a slow process, slower in the later treatments probably. To be honest i really like that i still have some hair, feels more normal somehow.
Anyway, i'll keep coming back and let you all know if anything changes, hopefully not !!
