Quick question about the growth of the hair after laser...

Question
Hi, I am have just underwent my first session with laser on my entire face. I followed all the procedures mentioned by the doctor, I was shaved to ensure best results. I would like to know about the new growth that my facial hair will have now that I have undergon one session of laser and after shaving apropiately. Will it grow thicker before it sheds? The doctor says it will grow exactly the same and then fall, is this true? I am a little aprehensive about the next few days and the new hair growth and how aesthetic ir may look. Please!! any answer is welcome!

Answer
yes, it will look like the hair is growing and then it sheds within 3 weeks. you can exfoliate and gently scrub in the shower etc to make the process a bit faster. you can shave if you really feel you need to as well.

Answer
thanks for your quick response. how ever, i know that one can visibly see the hair growing, i would like to know if because of the shaving and laser, it will grow out thicker, as it usually happens when one shaves.

Answer
shaving doesn't make the hair thicker. it's an old wives tale. it just feels a bit prickly because you're cutting the hair at the mid point where the shaft is a bit thicker than it is on the end of the hair. after laser, the hair sometimes feels a bit more coarse as it's coming out of the skin to shed. it's usually a good sign that the treatment went well and the hair was affected. usually, if you don't shave, the hair falls out faster. that's the only reason not to do it if you can avoid it.

Is there anything I can do besides shaving after my first laser on my chin? (jan 9th) ... You said it falls out better if you don't shave it, but if I go without shaving it for even 3 days (let alone 3 weeks) I will literally be growing a beard longer than my husband's. It is really visible after just one day of not shaving. (I used to tweeze it so it really bothers me when it isn't smooth and I can feel the stubble) .. so will I be ok just shaving, she said I might get treated once a month, how much longer does it take to fall out if you shave? Maybe I will just have to get treated every 6 weeks ...Thanks, by the way, for all your input... I wouldn't be able to ask all these questions in a short counseling session when I get my first laser Less than 2 weeks to go!

Answer
shaving is fine. it doesn't make that much of a difference. you can alo bleach, but that can irritate the skin. i would just shave since it sounds like you have a lot of hair. don't worry, you will be seeing shedding at about a 2 weeks mark post your treatment and should be very happy with the results. good luck.
