Hi, Just had a spot test done with cynosure yag. I'm a type IV and she did spot test on 4 places on my arm. 1st she used 40J - 50J. How effective do you think it is? I don't have much money to spend on this so i would like to know if it will be effective enough, because their package is pretty costly compared to another place i went to which used a diode laser and gave me a good deal. with type IV, you can use either yag or diode. just the person with the diode needs to be very experienced and know how to use high settings on you without burning your skin. yags will work well on all coarse hair, but not as well on finer hair. 40-50 joules is good.

Thanks blink! I guess i'll go with the yag, because the lady with diode is not very experienced. Even though the package price was cheaper, i'll go with Yag at sona med by the way. I hope its worth the money.

the only thing with sona i don't agree with is their 5 month wait time between treatments. i would go on my own schedule , i.e. come in when new hair shows up after shedding every time.

Wow! Five months between treatments?? That's hard to believe, especially when you consider growth cylces. As Blink says, go in shortly after the hair is popping through because most of those hairs will be in the anagen stage, the stage that laser is able to treat.

yes, that's sona's policy. i think they make you wait 5 months after treatment 3 or so...and possibly 3 months in between others...maybe someone can confirm
