Question
Because it does not work. I was told it would, since my skin is very white, allowing them to turn the laser up to the highest level. However after 5 treatments, its exactly the same. I never felt any discomfort during the treatments at all, which I understand is a bad thing because it means that the hair folicle is not absorbing any energy. The reason it does not absorb energy is because the laser itself is red, so red hair will not react with the laser.
This wasnt explained to me until after I was parted with over a thousand dollars.
I wish they would make a laser of a different wavelength that removed hair as well for us people with red hair.

Answer
what laser was used on you and at what flunces? just curious. laser targets dark pigment. red hair just doesn't normally have enough like blond or grey. did you ever experience shedding? if not, i would try to get some of the money back since the techs know that your hair is supposed to shed after every treatment, otherwise its not working
Answer
No I got no shedding. My body hair is very dark and does not look red. Kinda weird cause my pubes are red, but anyhow the doctor said it should work great since the hair is such a darger pigment than my super white skin.
But it did nothing, no discomfort from the laser, no shedding, they shaved me before the treatment and it grew back just as if I had shaved it normally. It was turned up all the way also.
Its because the laser is red, and even though the hair did not look red, it still _was_ red pigment so there was no reaction.
Ive recently started waxing and Im noticing a lot less regrowth from that then I got from 5 laser treatments.
Answer
waxing doesn't kill any hair. I've done that for years as well before laser treatments and the hair actually gets stronger after a while and more coarse because it learns to deal with being pulled out all the time. the follicles get more blood flow to "repair" the roots which causes them to become more coarse over time. but if that works for you, that's fine. if your hair is actually dark and not light red, then the problem might have been the lack of experience on the tech's part and the type of laser used. What laser was this? When you say the power was turned up...can you give specifics? What were the joules and spot size used, long or short pulse?
Answer
Honestly its been a year so I dont remember exactly but I do recall that it was a short pulse system and the number on the readout was in the low 60's, 62 I believe.
Answer
I'm also a red-haired guy and luckily found out about the light absobtion thing before parting with cash.
However, after much research I found out that ELoS actually does work on red hair. It uses a combination of light and radio frequency to remove hair. It will take longer than someone with fair skin and dark brown hair, but it is working.
Answer
Tony my man, tell them to give you your dang $$$ back. They should have known that red hairs are unlaserable !!!! You were ripped off - go get yo money back! Shame on them....
