2nd consultation

Question
Yesterday I went to Verve Skin Laser Center in NYC for the 1st time to discuss prices and types of lasers. The place was very professional, I liked it more than Laser Cosmetica. Has Anyone heard of Verve Skin Laser Center?
Well, the PA who spoke to me during the consultation told me that they would use the diode. Is this a good laser for skin type IV? The price was very reasonable compared to Laser Cosmetica. For 6 sessions for brazilian bikini, full legs and free sessions for the lip would be $3950 and at laser cosmetica it goes for $4750, but this is including a 3 year guarantee. There they would use the CoolGlide. Does anyone think I should still look around and find more options or one of these is just fine.

Answer
If you know for a fact you're a skin type IV, then you should be looking into a clinic that uses a YAG laser. What kind of laser did Laser Cosmetica use? Have you browsed this board about what happens to darker skin when it is treated with a diode or alexandrite laser? The pigment in your skin will absorb the laser's light along with the pigment in your hair. This will result in burns and hyperpigmentation.
Now it's possible to treat darker skin with a diode or alexandrite without burning it - but it means you have to turn the settings down so far that although you don't get burnt, you don't get permanent hair reduction either. On fair skin the laser settings are high because the light passes right thru pale skin and gets absorbed fully by the pigment in in the hair. YAGs use double-wavelength technology, which was designed for skin types IV and darker. I can't tell you how it works, but I know YAGs are good for darker skin tones. I wouldn't waste your money on a diode or alexandrite laser package.
Plus before you commit to ANY package using ANY laser, ask for a free patch test. That way you can make sure the hair sheds after the patch test and you have something to compare the rest of the results to.

Answer
I'm confused as to which business has the diode and which has the CoolGlide (Nd:YAG). If you are on the darker side of a type IV, the CoolGlide is the better option.
