Need advice after consultation please

Question
I have been reading over this forum and was trying to gather as much info as I could before I started out getting consultations. i went to my first one yesterday and asked lots of questions so here are the things I would like to get opinions on:
They use the Light sheer laser. I am a white female with skin that tans very easily and I am currently pretty tan. The people that do the procedure are RN's with 2 years experience however, I did not meet with them only the front desk person.
1. She said that I did not need to wait for my tan to fade before my first treatment since they start with a low setting. Does this sound right?
2. I'm doing the bikini line and she said it is 10-12 weeks between appointments.
Those are it for now. If anyone know any reputable place in the DC/MD metro area, I would love to know. Thanks

Answer
technically, yes, you can get LHR done on tanned skin with a very low setting. however, most likely, that wouldn't get any or good results. laser works best on light skin and dark hair as it targets the dark pigment. and it's only at high enough settings that the roots will actually be killed. since you're paying a lot of money for this, i would wait until the tan fades completely before starting these treatments. using low settings won't get you any or good results, so why spend the money when you can wait a bit, spend the same amount, and actually get rid of the hair?
10-12 weeks is a bit long. it's usually 6-8 weeks for more people after the first treatment and then it will gradually go up to 10-12 weeks after your third treatment or so since hair starts going slower and you won't have much to treat at 6-8 weeks yet. a good way to do it is to just wait until your next batch of hair starts growing in -- and that's when you get your next treatment done since this varies per person.

Thanks Blink888, I'm going to check out several other places. Will keep the board posted.

Answer
you shouldn't look for someone who will use a high setting if you're tanned. that will burn your skin. like i said, i would wait until the tan fades first.

Answer
I am going to wait till it fades. I just was going to get several more consultations while I'm waiting. Thanks
