Is this a scam??

Question
Hello everyone,
I am brand new to this message board, and I have a question for all - I recently entered into a contest to win free laser hair removal (which I've wanted for years) and shockingly I got 3rd place of $300 at -Company Name Deleted-. I have a consultation set up for next week, at which I do not plan to sign or committ to anything. Do you think this is some kind of scam to get people in to commit to lots of expensive LHR? Or is this legit? And could I get anything done for that small amount of money? Ideally, I would like to get my chin done first, but if its too expensive I may just get the upper lip done.
I wax usually about once every two weeks, but I do have to pluck almost everyday to get the stragglers. I'm aware that I would have to stop all waxing/tweezing (which will be sooo hard for me) but I hate it so much, I'll do anything. I'm so self conscious about it, and I know everyone on here understands. When I saw that I won some money towards LHR, I was really excited but now I'm growing skeptical.
Any thoughts or opinions would be very helpful...

Answer
that company is known to attract customers in that way. do not sign up for anything until you shop around and get quotes at other places around town. you will probably find that either you can get the same or lower price without any commitments or coupons/certificates or that they will at least match any other offer. it's a competitive business nowdays.

Answer
I would definitely shop around. That's what I did and I found a great place to get my LHR. I am paying $950 for six treatments on my chin and upper lip (the upper lip was discounted though, since the hair was pretty limited to the corners). The place I am going offered a payment plan, so perhaps you would be able to find a place to offer that, too.
If it's something you're interested in and the hair on your face bothers you, I'd say it is DEFINITELY worth looking into. I have fought a daily battle with hair on my face for years, and I got sick and tired of it interfering with my life. I've had my first treatment and so far, I couldn't be happier with the way the people in the office respected me and understood how embarassed I am by it. I would say, try not to let the money get in the way. If it's something you really want, maybe there will be a way for you to work out the payments. I knew it would be expensive, but no more expensive than waxing for the next 50 years of my life, not to mention the time standing in front of the mirror tweezing and doing heaven knows what else to get rid of the hair, only to repeat the process the next day!
