varicose veins?

Question
Does anyone know if lasering can cause (light) varicose veins to appear? I just had a test spot done on my leg (wow did it hurt!) and I noticed some broken blood vessels. maybe they were there before and i just didn't notice. but i would hate to go through all of this just to cause another problem for myself.
thanks

Answer
this is not a side effect of laser treatments. hair removal lasers do not penetrate that far. most likely, as a lot of consumers do, you started paying a lot more attention to your hair once you are getting ready to remove it or in the process of doing it, and just noticed something that was already there. is this apparent ONLY in the tiny spot where you got a test shot?

Answer
I've had 4 brazilian treatments and just noticed the same thing after the last one. I have superficial purple veins that are becoming noticeable. I thought that maybe I was just paying closer attention now, but I've always noticed this area because I have waxed it for yrs. Its starting to scare me. I don't need anymore problems either.
What laser are you using Anxious?? I am using Diode.

Answer
the doc used lightsheer at 40 joules.
I also got a yellow bruise in the shape of the test patch.

Answer
anxious, what color is your skin? those settings are pretty high. it might be hyperpigmentation.

Answer
I have VERY light skin and VERY course black hair.
What is hyperpigmentation? is it temporary?

Answer
hyperpigmentation can happen from high settings from laser treatments. basically, turning skin lighter in color. it can last several months, but eventually goes away.
what is your skin type on the Fitzpatrick chart?

Answer
i don't know what that is.

Answer
What is your skin type from I-V?
I am VERY fair skinned. All my friends make fun of how pale I am. I burn in the sun, except I CAN get a tan if I go to a tanning salon and regulate the time and intensity of exposure. Because I can manage to get a tan in a salon, I am a Skin Type II. I thought for sure I was a Type I but that ability to tan (no matter how small) makes me a Type II. I'm sure I'm the low end of Type II, but still..Skin Type I is for ppl who are ridiculously pale and can't tan. PERIOD. Very few ppl are Type I.

Answer
FYI-
Those settings aren't too high. I am probably a type II and had my last settings at 50 (w/lightsheer). I had 40joules my first treatment, so that sounds about right for someone very light skinned.

Answer
"light skinned" is a very subjective statement. the person might think they have light skin, but compared to some, it might be considered pretty dark.
anxious, look up the Fitzpatrick skin chart online (google it) to determine your skin type.
extrovert, LightSheer maxes out at 50 joules, so those settings are high. Yes, 40 joules is fine for very light skin (if the skin is actually as light as the person thinks it is), but would burn many others.
