Answer
Hi !
I have heard many stories like yours. Coolglide is a preferred choice. It is a very good decision to wait for your tan to fade.
I too, once went to get laser surgery and I paid $250 a visit. It sounds like you MIGHT be paying alot, however, this is constingient upon where you live at and the reputation of the clinic that you are going to.
I might recommend getting an in-home laser treatment system, as the payment would be a one-time fee. It would be worth it ONLY if:
Price is an issue
You can afford to wait longer for results (1.5-2 times as long)
You might want to treat more than one area
You have a busy schedule where it would be convenient to undergo laser treatments in your own home. (Many clinics close around 5:30)
You want to make some of your money back by selling the product when your through with it.
You think that you might want laser treatments in the future.
You would like to avoid the embarrassment of going to a clinic.
You would like to go at your own pace, not trading excessive pain for money (since most clinics charge based on time spent inder the laser).
You feel confident that you can perform the operation (it is completely safe unless directed to the eyes).
If a 110% money backGUARRANTEE sound good to you. (Something NO clinic worldwide offers)
AND
you are willing to pay UNDER $900 for a LIFETIME of treatments, instead of $400 PER treatments.

Answer
I will get my full first treatment in october as well on my lower legs. I am paying 1500 for 3 treatments. A doctor (plastic surgeon) is going to be doing it.
Answer
lower legs range $250-500 per treatment, so the price sounds about right. Coolglide is a Yag laser and best for skin type IV and higher. If you have light skin with dark hair without a tan, then you might want to consider finding an alexandrite or a diode laser. You can look up your skin type by locating a Fitzpatrick chart online.
p.s. once again, the above posting for epila is an advertisement from someone who sells it on ebay. please search "epila" on this and other forums to find all the negative reviews on this product. there is no magic home laser machine out there. most of them do not have enough power to actually kill the hair. (and it's getting tiring to write this for every advertisement-reply "wormjitsu" posts btw...)

Where I go, she charges $2300 (4-6 treaments) for lower legs which includes knees all the way to your toes. But - you buy one body part and you get one free - in a package deal. So, you could add in underarms or bikini for free, etc. And she also will go upto 6 treatments if for some reason you may need it and she also will do touch ups after like the 2nd or 3rd treatment if you stop in the office - its no problem.
Another place I went to for quotes, was almost 2x as expensive as this person.
Around here in Chicago, $400 a treatment seems like a deal. LOL.
