Just had treatment. Is it working?

Question
I just had my first treatment to my bikini area 5 days ago. A couple of hairs shed the day of treatment, but nothing else after that. The hair is now growing back normally as if I had done nothing at all. I shaved the day I had treatment. The technician said that was what they recommened anyway. A Coolglide laser was used on me. Was the hair too short to have been affected by the laser? Or will the hair be shedding soon. Whats next?

Answer
You can be at ease Jane. That is simply normal.
The hairs will continue to grow to their normal length, and finally fall out over the course of an estimated 2-14 days.
I wonder though, how much are you paying for this treatment? It could be cheaper to buy an at-home system. I have had GREAT experiences with one in particular. I have SO much faith in it that I purchased a wholesale lot and started selling them on ebay.

Either way Jane, at this point you have NOTHING to worry about if price isn't an issue.

Answer
shedding occurs within 2-3 weeks of treatment for most people. so you need to wait 2-3 weeks before you can see results of the treatment. Coolglide is a Yag laser and is best for darker skin types. If your skin is light, you might want to consider switching to an alexandrite or diode laser for faster results.
sorry, devices like the one advertised above have numerous bad reviews on all hair removal forums. i would stay away. they normally don't have enough power to actually kill the hair. these laser machines cost upwards $50k+ used by professionals. in addition, it's very hard to take the word of someone who sells these devices as the truth. somehow, i lean towards the dozens of postings about the device's ineffectiveness from actual consumers who don't have any invested interest in it.

Thanks blink888. I am a 3 on the Fitzpatrick chart with very dark hair. Besides speed what are other advantages to the alexandrite or diode lasers. In the end dont have about the same results. I'm worried about being burned.

Answer
If you're really a type III, your skin won't get burns. Those lasers can safely treat up to a skin type IV. Just don't tan, make sure your skin is as light as possible. Yag lasers don't target fine hair as well and you will need more treatments for the same results, so more expensive in general. Like I said, at type III, you should be fine with an alex or a diode. Just make sure to find a good tech for best results. In the end, that's most important. A very good experienced tech will be able to manipulate the settings in the best way to achieve the best and fastest (and cheapest) results with any of these lasers.
