What should I do?

Question
Hi, I’ve been visiting this site for about a week, though this is my first time to post. I just want to say this site has been very informative and encouraging!
I am 23 with fair skin and started getting coarse black hairs on my chin when I was 16. My chin is now covered in coarse black hairs with 20 or so spread out on my neck. I have an appointment to have LHR (CoolGlide) next month. My question is this…should I try to have the hairs on my neck removed, or just the ones on my chin? The reason I ask is that I keep reading that unless the hairs are really coarse you shouldn’t attempt to have them removed. And, the coarse hairs on my neck are somewhat spread out with finer hairs between.
Thanks in advance!

Answer
if you only have 20 hairs total, get electrolysis done. It will take 15-30 mins to clear the area and you will need a few clearings. overall, this will be cheaper and you won't run the risk of activating any finer hairs that are not noticeable since with electrolysis you can target specific hairs, not spots. Electrolysis only costs about $60/hr on average.
Coolglide is also not the best laser for you. It is a Yag and made for darker skins. An alexandrite or a diode laser would work best.
Laser is attracted to coarse hair, so those are affected best.

Answer
Ya, electrolysis is definitely better. I don't know why ppl aren't taking into account the numerous stories about women who've had facial LHR and ended up with MORE hair. I wouldn't want to spread a false rumor, but from the amount of negative results on here, you'd think you'd avoid facial LHR if at all possible.
You wouldn't even need 30 mins with a skilled electrologist to nab all those hairs. Laser's overkill in that sensitive little area, in my opinion.

Answer
women with a full beard and dark coarse hair on light skin do have good results with laser. it's usually the ones with few fine hairs, or even a bunch of just long fine hairs that are being undertreated by bad techs who sometimes report more hair.

Answer
thanks for the advertisement, but there are plenty of postings here about the ineffectiveness of this product. I highly doubt you've had professional treatments btw.

Answer
I think this Wormjitsu person should be banned, he/she sounds like a big time fake. I would never use a laser on myself unless it was applied by a trained professional. In fact the device is probably not even a real laser. Why have you bought a wholesale of the product? Just because you love the product? There are many products I have bought that I love however I do not go out and buy a wholesale amount of them to sell on eBay.

Answer
Thanks to everyone for the responses and advice! Blink888 – I think I’ll take your advice and look for someone who uses an alexandrite laser instead. And look into having electrolysis done on my neck area.
Wormjitsu – At home laser? That’s ridiculous. With all the people who have had problems with lasers in the hands of trained professionals, there is NO way I could believe an “at home laser” would work.

Answer
i'm glad the consumers here are no falling for it. as indianguy mentioned, we all love many products, but that doesn't make us go out, buy a ton, and start reselling them on eBay. of course I WOULD consider something like that if I knew (as I do now) that many people are so desperate to get rid of their body hair causing low self esteem etc, that they are willing to pay anything for whatever sounds like it will do the job painlessly and easily. good thing consumers on this forum are better informed than that. and if you're somewhat interested in the product, I urge you to read through tons of bad reviews on this and other forums. Just search for "epila" using the search feature.
