Question
Hello, i'm new to the whole LHR thing
and have lots of questions.
One of them is...
I used to wax right before the vacation so it would last me a week or so.
How do I plan the LHR treatment schedule around that. Do I do it right before or 2 weeks before..
Will I be hair free for some time right after the treatment?? I'm not sure how it works!
Thanks a lot

Answer
you need all hair to be in their follicles with roots in order to be killed with laser. otherwise, it's not good use of your money. laser kills hair in its first growth stage, which lasts about 4 weeks after your hair comes out. so the best thing to do is to get your first laser treatment within those 4 weeks. After you do that, it takes 1-3 weeks for the hair to shed and you should have a hair free period for about 5-8 weeks. After that, you go in for your next treatment, once the hair starts to come out. You are only allowed to shave in between laser treatments, because the roots need to be there. You will need 4-8 treatments to kill all the hair in one area (due to growth stages) and treatments are spaced about 8-10 weeks apart for most people. Basically, you go in for the next treatment as soon as a bunch of hair shows up again.
It's very important to find a good tech to do this procedure to get the best results, so look for recommendations and make sure they are using the best laser for your skin and hair type.

Thank you very much! You've been very helpful
Where do I start?? How can I find people from my area who have an experience with LHR. And how do I know what kind of lasers are good?
Thank you.
Answer
look up a Fitzpatrick chart online to approximately determine what your skin type is. if you have light skin and dark hair, look for an alexandrite or diode type laser. for skin type darker than type IV, look for a Yag laser.
you can run a search for your state on all the LHR forums to find recommendations (this one, hairtell, and kitty's consumer beware). also look on laser manufacturers websites for provider searches (Candela corporation is one company that makes alexandrite and yag lasers like GentleLASE and GentleYag). also, look in your yellow pages and online for hair removal places near you. then call them to see what laser they use, how long they've been in business etc.
