11 days post op/FL&lower lids

Question
Hi everyone,
Have been helped so much by your posts since having my FL and lower eyelids done. None-the-less I am going crazy looking at and inspecting my face at every angle - worrying about this and worrying about that. My eyes don't look like mine and are still swollen in areas, also a whitehead looking thing in the corner of my eye and I'm afraid under my chin isn't tight enough or is it just swelling?
And like I've read many times - I'm afraid I'll move just so and make it "all fall down"
I'm leaving for China in 21 days and hope I'm "presentable" - do you think?
Will post some photos soon - just don't want to /mmh/product/scar_reduction/index.vm?procid=42" target=_blank>scare anyone I had a lot of bruising and swelling -
Any input very appreciated. Glad to be a part of this group.
Bonnie

Answer
Hi Bonnie and welcome. You are voicing what every single person who's gone through this voices. At 11 days - you are still a in major change/recovery mode. The white head will most likely resolve on it's own. I did not have this, however, lots of others did and, I'm sure, will respond. Your eyes being swollen...............My hubby just mentioned about 5 minutes ago that last night at a mother's day party, my lower eyes had "pockets" of swelling under them, but he can't see them today. I use to only have this when I smiled, but now it can be visable all the time. Swelling is our enemy. My PS says to give it 3 months to really see results. Lots of people on here will tell you they saw changes up to 1 year.
Under your chin - yep, most likely swelling. I did go to my PS and mentioned this the other day. He said I still have 10-20% swelling under mine. If that's the case, I will most likely not be thrilled with that part of my outcome. I was hoping to be totally rid of any "double chin" and that's not the case at this point.
I am 4 1/2 weeks post op, about where you'll be when you leave for China. You should be totally presentable by then and I'm jealous But you will not be at your final healing destination by then. From everything I've read, that takes months. My PS says for me to give my swelling 3 months - I've heard others later than that complaining. Did you have your neck done? What kind of facelift? Was the incision for your lower lids on the inside or outside?

Answer
Thanks for the great info Kim.
Yes, that chin thing - one of the most important reasons we get it done and when there's still a hint of it - well sounds like you know what I mean and here's hoping you and I will both ultimately get the results we want with that.
I had outside cut for lower lids. The swelling right next to the lids is fickled and changes positions sometimes. The whitehead thing bugs me but glad it is common and goes away on its own.
I had a Smas. The doctor said I have very elastic /mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>skin and he took about 3--4 inches off each side! Can you believe it. When you see my /pictures/index.php" target=_blank>photos you will think well she doesn't look That bad, but that's what he said. I was like good - I'm glad it's gone!
Good to hear I should be pretty normal looking by China time. This FL was sort of a celebration gift to myself because I've been going to China every 3 monthes for the last year for medical treatment and am 1/2 way to being cured and done with the treatment. So I wanted to look the way I feel - like a new woman.
Are you happy with your FL and what else did you have done?
Again thanks for the reply - I'm glad to be part of this group.

Answer
I had facelift, /mmh/product/facelift/index.vm?procid=7" target=_blank>neck lift, neck lip, upper /mmh/product/eyelidsurgery/index.vm?procid=6" target=_blank>eyes, lower eyes(with incision on inside) and /mmh/product/chemicalpeel/index.vm?procid=4" target=_blank>phenol /mmh/product/chemicalpeel/index.vm?procid=4" target=_blank>peel below eyes.
There's a wonderful post, can't remember total title, but it's been updated today and is something like March/April Group something - started by Rose. It has lots of summaries of people who are 2 months to 2 days post-op.
I'm sorry you have needed to go to China for medical treatment, but glad to hear you are on the mend.
Keep reading these posts. You will get lots of wonderful info from some very special ladies. Kim

Answer
Hi,
I am 21 days post op. I have had an uneventful recovery, but I also have the 'White head" thing going on. It is of no concern. We are told to massage it ( later perhaps?) I was told to do so 3x per day to get rid of it when I was 2 weeks post op. so YOu should check with your MD. I am an RN and am curious about your trips to China. Why? couldn't you get RX here? Too curious. You don't have to answer. Good luck with your treatment and I too had a lot of medical stuff I went through and did this as a gift to myself for getting on with with second half of my new life. (CA /mmh/product/scar_reduction/index.vm?procid=42" target=_blank>scare and MS scare, which took it's stress on my looks) Best wishes,
Elson

Answer
Hi Elson,
Will look into that with the whiteheads (only have 2) but I'll be glad when their gone.
Regarding the China trip - I have avascular necrosis (AVN) in my right hip. Here in the states or pretty much everywhere in the world except China they only treat it with hip replacements. I did not want to lose my hip so searched high and low for an alternative and found a special hospital in Beijing that treats it non surgically with great success. I was barely able to get around the beginning of last year and since implementing the China treatment I have come so far. No pain, no problem walking, getting around. The xrays are amazing when you see the difference. Thanks for asking.
Along with finding this alternative treatment this FL has been a dream come true to begin the second half of my new life and new found health.
Bonnie

Hi HappyGirl,
I had LOTS of facial work done and was ready for a HUGE family wedding at 5.5 weeks post. I was still swollen and wore camouflage makeup, but I got no double-takes, stares or any indication that folks thought I had work done!
Sounds like you've developed a milia (cyst) on the incision line under your eye. They're pretty common. Described here:
<<Milia are tiny white bumps or pimples. They occur when dead, normally sloughed-off skin becomes trapped in small pockets at the surface of the skin ... Milia are also commonly seen on the faces of adults or in areas of trauma or inflammation.>>
If it doesn't resolve on its own in a month or so, you could probably have your PS remove it in such a way as to not leave any scarring.
