Question
Hi All,
I've read conflicting things on this message board, as well as others about using retin a while using A peel, so I emailed Julie and asked her personally. Here was her response:
JENNIFER!~
Nooooooo. No. NO...sorry..I'm sweaty right now hoping I got to you in time.
RETINA MICRO contains retinoic ...APEEL does too and contains about 10
times the strength of retina Micro, but what is worse is the the chemicals
that are in the MICRO are so strong, it would irritate your skin.
IF you use apeel daily or correct or light night..YOU DON'T NEED MICRON ANY
MORE!
Jules
Do the rest of you stop using the micro completely before an A peel, or do you use it in conjunction? I use the micro every other night, and I waited a night before doing a patch test with the a peel daily. Nothing happened.

Answer
They both are retinoids- They are different forms. There is some research out there that says the etiology of treretoin is somwhat different than that of retinyl palmitate, but in the correct dosage and delivery the results are similar- collagen inducement, skin turnover stimulation, etc.
I also use micro retin a- I do not use it while I do the apeels. I've used retin a for a very long time- my skin seems to be very acclimated to it- everyones response is different, but for me, my skin responds very nicely to apeel, how I did to retin a when I first started with it.
Answer
How long do you wait to do a pel after stopping the retin a?
Answer
Just a day before-
I don't apply both on the same nights, it's one or the other.
Answer
But like a 50% Glycolic is dif right? stop Retin A longer for that?
Answer
Generally, you would stop regular retin A a few before the peel, micro is less iritating the retin a, you can stop that aday before the peel.
However, everyone responds different- the more sensitive you tend to be, the more days ahead of time you should stop.
