15% tca

Question
HI eveyone. I'm a guy and new here. Have had a couple of blue peels before for rough complexion and liked the results. So I figured that I would do one one myself with 25% /mmh/product/chemicalpeel/home_peels/tca/index.vm?procid=4&catid=1045&subcatid=1047" target=_blank>tca. OK, the directions said to use a Q-tip to apply, but wouldn't that take way too long to do on the whole face? Couldn't I use something bigger?
Also, when I had the blue peel they did three layers about 5 minutes apart. Should I do that again or just 1 or 2. Oh, btw, it HURT!!!!!!
Oh, one more thing. How "wet" does the applicator have to be to ensure I am getting ewnough on my face? THANKS SO MUCH!!!!

Answer
Hello Magnum:
(You are not really Tom Selleck, right? (Just kidding))
I know- those peels hurt!
First, do not do higher than that without professional help- the higher %, and multiple layers will seep into the lower papial dermis and can cause /mmh/product/scar_reduction/index.vm?procid=42" target=_blank>scarring if it seeps to deep.
That said, the more successful peels will be even, and deep enough to cause frosting but not too deep (if your skin turns gray it is too deep).
To better ensure even absorbtion at the right level, ''prepping'' the skin for a few weeks + is the right way to start. This can be done with regular use of retin a, high% retinol and some weeker glycolic or lactic peels. The will thin out the top layers of the epidermis and also help to stimulate the 'top' of the dermis, which is where collagen and nutrients come from.
Once you have adequate prepping, and are ready for the peel, take some tylenol extra strength before hand (NOT aspiran or nsaid). Get some 'gauze' pads in a drug store, or, you can take a paper towel and fold it into quarters---- I recommend latex gloves, since your fingertips will peel
if you get solution on them.
Have some q-tips on hand to go over 'trouble' spots.
cleanse your face very well before the peel- to degrease it- You can also use some rubbing alcohol after you wash your face.
Put solution, several dropper fulls on the paper towel or gauze and swipe.
If you do not 'frost' (your skin turns white), you can do a 2nd layer.
You can go over bad spots with the q-tip dipped in solution.
After 3 or 4 minutes, rinse with cool water to neutralize.
It's best to go slow and conservative. You do, and most people do a series of peels to get where they want.
You can do your next one in 2 weeks if you think you need it.

Answer
Glad to help, beeguy.
I've been doing a series of peels and am FINALLY getting to be where I want to, though I'm sure I will never be 100% satisfied ( my under/mmh/product/eyelidsurgery/index.vm?procid=6" target=_blank>eyes are bad, so I am getting a ps strength peel there on Thursday. I will have my hubby (who thinks this whole thing is hilarious) take some high res pics. When they are ready I will post and I"d be happy to email them. The recovery is going to be pretty major and I hope I don't /mmh/product/scar_reduction/index.vm?procid=42" target=_blank>scare my boy.

Answer
lekat when you say wait 2 weeks to do another peel do you mean 2 weeks from the day you apply the peel or 2 weeks from when you stop peeling?
Julie

Answer
2 weeks for the day you do the peel-
at that low level, if you did not peel a lot from the first one, you could do the next at 7-10 days after the 1st-
