I never flaked or peeled from the /mmh/product/chemicalpeel/home_peels/jessners/index.vm?procid=4&catid=1045&subcatid=1048" target=_blank>Jessner's 2 l/mmh/product/beauty/ayer/index.vm?procid=13&catid=642" target=_blank>ayer I did last wednesday (/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>skin was smoothe, but that was about it)...so yesterday (Monday) I did a 4 layer Jessner's. It definitely stung/burned more than the 2 layer....today my face is splotchy, purplish in the 'crows feet' area, and there are red, leathery areas on my face... and some slight flaking around my /mmh/product/rhinoplasty/index.vm?procid=10" target=_blank>/mmh/product/rhinoplasty/index.vm?procid=10" target=_blank>nose. /mmh/product/makeup/index.vm?procid=54" target=_blank>Makeup totally covered it in the morning...but as the day wore on, it got redder and leathery-er....BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Went to bed after American Idol...so didn't see the post until this morning! But here goes....I think my face must be a little swollen overall (I am definitely not complaining!)--as far as texture and lack of wrinkles, it looks like the day after I had Thermage(face is a little swollen but that makes it look wrinkle and line- free--although overall, I don't think the Thermage really did anything--but that's another story)...my forehead is tight as a drum, not discolored at all, feels a little dry if you touch it, and there is some very fine flaking...you really have to look up close in a mirror. Under my /mmh/product/eyelidsurgery/index.vm?procid=6" target=_blank>eyes (which I didn't deliberately put any /mmh/product/chemicalpeel/index.vm?procid=4" target=_blank>peel solution on) it was a bit puffy and very wrinkled--same as when I put RetinA on it...so I put some /mmh/product/beauty/revision/index.vm?procid=13&catid=591" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/revision/index.vm?procid=13&catid=591" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/revision/index.vm?procid=13&catid=591" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/revision/index.vm?procid=13&catid=591" target=_blank>teamine on it and it smoothed out. The areas on where the nasolabial folds would be and on the sides of my chin (near where the 'puppet lines' would be) are a little shiny, pinkish purple (not very dark) and definitely flaking. Near my nostrils it is flaking, too...It still looks a bit 'black and blue' in the crow's feet area, and is peeling there (a small area)...There is some fine flaking on the bridge of my /mmh/product/rhinoplasty/index.vm?procid=10" target=_blank>/mmh/product/rhinoplasty/index.vm?procid=10" target=_blank>/mmh/product/rhinoplasty/index.vm?procid=10" target=_blank>/mmh/product/rhinoplasty/index.vm?procid=10" target=_blank>nose. Other than that, there are about 8 pink small roundish 'blotches' on my cheeks. (I knew I was off work today and tomorrow, but then it occurred to me I have a PS appointment tomorrow afternoon for a BR recheck...maybe by then I'll be more 'presentable'.) So I'm not putting anything at all on my face today...just letting nature take its course. I did get the 'kit' on ebay, but just bid 24.99 rather than BIN...the only thing you have to get in addition to what she sends is gauze pads to apply the pre-peel and peel. And if you want to neutralize the peel and don't want to use just water, you should have baking soda on hand...but that isn't necessary.BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Thanks for posting LookinUp. I too ordered the Jessner's so I appreciate your experience. I am /mmh/product/chemicalpeel/index.vm?procid=4" target=_blank>peeling here and there from a 2 l/mmh/product/beauty/ayer/index.vm?procid=13&catid=642" target=_blank>ayer 18% on my face and arms so I won't be doing the Jessner's for awhile but I'll have a good idea what to expect. What is your past experience with peels? What kind have you done before?
I am looking to get ready for a big auction shindig, 25 class reunion and summertime (no sun!!) so I want to do my legs and arms as well. Cold weather is the time to do it so I can cover up while peeling. I am looking to do a Jessner's then a TCA but we'll see!!
Take Care,

Before this, the only peel I'd ever done was glycolic acid (worked up to 60%)....never had a problem with it until fairly recently. (burned my face even if it was only on 1 minute--used to keep it on for 4-6 minutes with no adverse effects). That's why, after reading these boards, I decided to give the /mmh/product/chemicalpeel/home_peels/jessners/index.vm?procid=4&catid=1045&subcatid=1048" target=_blank>Jessner's a try. (I have my 30th HS reunion this summer--a pool party at a country club--ugh--can you imagine--a bunch of balding 47 year old guys with their stomachs hanging over their bathingsuits...I'm sure the women are thrilled, too!)BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

ACtually, today I would not have gone to work(they'd probably have put me in the leprosy ward)... I don't think makeup would have covered because of the texture--as someone else said, like 'reptile /mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>skin' in spots--...but tonite (just washed my face and when I dried it a lot of the flakes came off) I would be able to cover it with a /mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>moisturizer and makeup if I had to.BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Hi lookinup, you are turning out to be a guide for the rest of us. I too am a chicken, having survived ps with an emotional roller coaster ride that lasted over a year!
So let me see if I get this correctly. The Jessners you can do a search on Ebay and get it there, all but the gauze and baking soda.
You apply a couple of layers of what? /mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>/mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>Cream, liquid? Do you put gauze pads on it for overnight? So say I do it and put on two layers.
Then in a few day2 2 or 3, I would be red, then by day 4 or 5 I would turn spotty, brown, purple whatever. Then you moisturize and bear with it? Somewhere around a week or 10 days the "new" skin appears?
I know you are not at the final result but the part you are at is what I am interested in. I have great exposure to the sun reflecting off the water so I need to really plan this out. Did you anticipate swelling? Is that normal? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I think I was the most help at the boards when I was posting during the process of healing, cuz it is a moment to moment accounting of what is going on.
This is so helpful to so many of us and I for one really appreciate you being so open and sharing this with those of us who will follow you.
Aloha

3 days since the peel....After I took a long, hot shower, I wiped my face with a rough towel (not too hard)....it took off a lot of the flakes, and the red spots are about gone. The dark patches near the 'crow's feet' peeled off as well. No doubt with moisturizer, makeup will cover everything at this point by tomorrow morning. Still quite a bit of fine flaking, but definitely doesn't look too bad.
With the Jessner's on ebay, you first apply the prepeel liquid with a gauze pad (or cotton pad) and keep swiping it over your entire face until all the dirt and oil are gone. Then you pour the peel solution (also a liquid) into a small dish and soak the gauze in it. The way you layer, is you swipe the gauze soaked in the peel solution over your face. Wait 5 minutes. Then swipe it over your face again and leave it on for 5 minutes. (so 10 minutes total for 2 layers). The instructions said to either rinse it off in the shower, or keep splashing water over your face for 3 minutes....you can also mix some baking soda in water and put that on your face, but it isn't necessary--water is fine as long as you use enough/do it long enough. (shower was the easiest way, in my opinion). Nothing overnight. (there's an apeel peel that lekat was talking about that you can leave on overnite, but that isn't the same thing.) On day one I had some areas of redness and spottiness. By today, day 3, most of the redness is gone, and just fine flaking remains. If you moisturize before you finish flaking, it will take longer. So I just let nature take its course. I was at the PS's today (BR 8 month checkup) and asked him about the swelling...he said it is normal. (It was noticeable to me, but not to anyone else--not like you swell up like a balloon or anything, just puffed out a little to smooth out the wrinkles and gone in 2 days).BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

sorry to butt in...but one thing you might want to do to speed up the flaking process is to dampen a washcloth with very warm water, fold it into a smaller square and hold it on your face in all areas...keep rinsing it to keep it warm...this will take off a lot of the flaky skin...Then once you are 90% finised flaking (a day or so after the peel) use some exfoliating crystals to remove the rest.....You will love the texture of your skin.....Saying this, I haven't used a Jessner's peel only 12.5% tca.
LookingUp....I graduated from HS in 1977....recently went to my schools alumni website....and honestly could not believe how different my old friends look....I haven't lived in my hometown or visited for many years as my folks don't live there any longer!!! Geez...is that what 46 looks like????
Answer
I meant to say a day or so after you stop peeling when just a few little flakys are visible....Opps!!!
Answer
Day 4...most of the redness/pinkness is gone, and the flakes were plentiful, but really fine, so I did a home microdermabrasion and, except for a spot near one of the NLs and 2 spots on the side of my chin, it really smoothed my face out completely. After some moisturizer, you can't even tell I looked like I had a disease on Tuesday! (and my husband stopped asking me why I wanted to 'mess up my--to quote Frank Sinatra--fabulous face'. Aren't husbands wonderful?BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Do these peels have any effect at all on naso labial folds? That is, if they aren't too bad to begin with?
Also, what about lightening up some brown splotches down the outsides of my neck? My Derm said I could use laser treatment on them, (at $400 a pop!) and it would probably take 3. Can't afford that at the moment. You can see these on my pics I have on here. I don't think they are Melasma, but are probably hormonally related.
I use GA now, along with Retin A, and my skin looks pretty good, but I hate those brown blotches.
Answer
The only that really helps the nasio folds is a filler, resty or radiense.
Peels wills even out your skin tone, help with sundamage and fine wrinkles, and smooth it's texture.
However, with all that done, the nasio's will look better- but they will still be there.
You can do glycolic, lactic or tca on your neck. Many ps's will bring a tca down the neck and decoillette when doing a face to ensure even skin tone.
Always to do a patch test to gauge your reaction, start light -12-15%, and take a few tylenol before hand, it will sting. Also, you should be comitted to staying out of the sun and using high spf otherwise the dark spots will come back-
