Question
I did it! After 2 1/2 years of thought, four different ps consults and reading this board I scheduled my lower fl for the first week of May, although it may be moved to the last week of April.

Dawn, thanks for saying you guys will be here as I go through this. I haven't told anyone what I'm doing, except for my ex-husband and one friend (who I actually met here on this site.) So I've been feeling kind of alone about the upcoming procedure. And like I'm sneaking, which of course I am.
And Garland, I watched your video a couple of months ago, I'm going to watch it again now that I'm really going to do it myself. You look beautiful!
Answer
That was very thoughtful to make the series of videos and put yourself out there. (I'm very shy about it because I have crazy exes on the internet, LOL).
I am curious. Are your ears back to feeling again? I had an otoplasty as a child and it seemed to take forever for my ears to feel normal, but waiting for dinner takes a million years when you're a kid!
Answer
Seahorse, I am just 4 days out from my surgery and I followed practically every piece of advice given here.
Arnica & /mmh/product/vitamins_supplements/bromelain/index.vm?procid=44&catid=635" target=_blank>Bromelain 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after (if ok'd by dr). Sleep in a recliner. I am finding that the homemade /mmh/product/therapy/index.vm?procid=40" target=_blank>ice packs are working best for me. The /mmh/product/therapy/index.vm?procid=40" target=_blank>frozen peas started to smell too quickly and that didn't help with my nausea. I have to agree that this is rather painless so far. I only took pain pill the first day then tylenol after that. Really need the sleeping pill at night - for some reason I am not sleeping during the day. Bruising is just starting but so far it is light - so I can't help you with that yet.
I thought I had all my bases covered but I just realized that I haven't been taking my vitamins or regular meds for the 1st 3 days (my husband did the best he could but forget those).
Garland, I have thought about you everyday. Your video diary was so helpful but I don't know how you did it. I haven't wanted to talk to my husband much - let alone a camera!
Answer
Congrats Lonna,
I hope you keep up posted on you progress and thanks for sharing your advice.
Answer
Seahorse, I had my MFL on Feb. 27. The healing process took longer than I expected. I took 3 weeks off of work.
I used the Arnica /mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>cream for a couple of weeks then switched to Jason's Vit. K creme.
My ears still do not feel normal which concerns me. They do not hurt they just don't feel comfy when I try to sleep on my side.
I still have some numb spots behind my ears but I am sure that will pass.
Good luck with your surgery. This site has all of the info you will need.
Answer
Doreen- my ears feel the same at night-my surgery was a couple of weeks before yours.
I would say to take off almost 4 weeks if you don't want people to know.
