13 days out and wow

Question
Hi ladies:
You haven't heard much from me in the past week as I have been feeling pretty down. Yesterday about mid afternoon I took a really good look at myself and realized how things have finally come together.
I've been pretty swollen up till this point and my eyes looked a little wonky and of course you start think the worst and that you'll never look normal again.
I saw my ps yesterday am and voiced my concerns and he was wonderful. He said I was right on track and that my eyes were still swollen so thats why they looked a bit off. When I got home I decided to go for a walk with my dog and take in the beautiful day. By mid afternoon I actually saw an incredible difference, swelling was pretty much gone and my eyes looked great. I really saw what the outcome was going to be like and I was thrilled.
Woke up this am and I'm a little swollen again, but much better. By early afternoon things really seem to improve. It's only 13 days out and I am so looking forward to the next few weeks. This is all very exciting, and I can't say enough about my ps, he has never waivered in his belief that all was good and that all I needed was time.....he was soooo right ( I think I'm in love!).
All of you girls out there have been so wonderful, (in particular Chez, who always has words of encouragement for everyone). You all said it was rough going at the beginning and that "patient pills" were necessary. you were so right.
I do believe that picking the right ps is absolutely imperative to a really good outcome. You need to feel so confident about him or her, have no doubts in your mind at all .Also I think money should never be a factor, if you can't afford to go with the very best ps possible then save up for it. It is soooooo important. I may sound like I'm preaching but I feel so strongly about it.
Thanks for all the support.

I am so happy to hear this, Claire!! You are Day 13 today and are doing great!! At Day 7 for me, I am getting tired of this swelling that doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and I know I have been very lucky with my recovery and the lack of bruising, etc., but now I am getting impatient to get back to normal living again! Your post was encouraging. Enjoy the beautiful new you!!

Hi Kathy
Yeah, yesterday afternoon really felt like a turning point, granted swelling is back again today but at least I know there is light at the end of the tunnel. I find afternoons and early evenings are the best.
Still a little bruising around the neck and the left temple area and a touch under right eye other than that things are going well.
You cannot complain one bit, your recovery is exceptional! You look amazing and you are only 1 week out. You're doing something right!

My bruising (or yellowing) is on the left side of my neck and the rest is basically gone. I am still numb though, my forehead and my cheeks and neck all feel like they have been injected with freezing from a dental procedure! My eyelids are also numb. How long does THAT take to start to go away!?
You are right, I have no right to complain!! I am looking forward to next week and hoping I have a turning point as you did!

Hi ClaireJ. It is a good feeling, isn't it, to start feeling like you aren't going to look like an alien. It sounds like you are at a point where you know your results will look good. It sounds like you are more swollen in the am-remember to keep your head elevated in the evening while you sleep. Also, my PS told me, after day 7, that heat and massaging my face would be helpful with swelling reduction - and it was. I'm glad things are going so well for you! Take Care

Ladies- you all sound great,; I am so happy for you and your positive attitudes- keep up the warm compresses! I, too, am pleased more and more every day! Regards, Dawn.

Answer
Good for you Clair. I am only 16 days post and I still feel puffy in the mornings but by mid day the appearance greatly improves. Continue to sleep on an incline, maybe that will help a bit.

Hi everyone
I went out for dinner for the first time this evening and I must say it felt great. We did sit in the corner of a dark restaurant, but I felt pretty good. Unfortunately just before we left I could feel the swelling kick in but I was able to manage. The best part was that my husband told me I looked really good, young in fact were his words, I don't thing he knows how much that meant to me.
Still trying to hide a few yellow bruises and the skin is still so very dry but I'm finally realizing that this was the best thing I could have done for myself. All you ladies out there just know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, it really does take time. I'm not there yet but I know I'm definitely on my way.
