Answer
They told me a month. I am out over a month now and still can't color mine due to some issues with my right ear not healing properly. Thank goodness I had it highlighted the week before so it helps blend in the grey. I also have been using the John Frieda glaze for brunettes and that helps blend the roots in as well.

Answer
I was also told a month but left it six weeks to be on the safe side. I think thats when you really see the difference, when your hair is cut and coloured And you can look in the hairdressers mirror and not wonder who that old lady is

Answer
I was told 6 weeks. The nurse in my ps's office will check me quickly the day before my appointment to make certain that I am healed enought. Otherwise, I will buy a wig. No way can I show the grey after all this. I am going to try some of that John Freida shampoo to blend.
I have visions of my scars turing the color of my hair if I violate the rules.

Answer
As you probably have guessed from my name, my hair is colored red. I am naturally dark blonde with plenty of gray and red is a difficult color to keep from fading. So I went to my hairdresser and she said that she has a coloring product she could use that had no ammonia in it. I had a conference to attend and had to have her do the color just 4 weeks after myface and neck lifts. That was pushing it but I had absolutely no problem. The color as she predicted was not exactly the usual but believe me red NEVER turns out exactly the same and this was darn close. And according to my husband and good friends I saw later at the conference it looked terrific. So ask your colorist to use a product that has no ammonia in it until you heal more.

Answer
I did not "get the ok" to color my hair for eight and a half weeks; can you believe it???? I colored it myself for half the instructed time at 6 weeks, because the roots were way too grey!
I am in the Madison area also. My f/l, upper/lower blephs, brow lift, fat transfer, /mmh/product/facelift/index.vm?procid=7" target=_blank>neck lift were done on Apr 27.

Hello, Gummy!
Although I was allowed to--and did--have my hair colored after 6 week--OUCH!! My head (from the brow lift) and the back of my ears had me doing some silent screaming, when the dye had to be washed out!!! But I did tell my hairdresser that I'd really appreciate it if she used her fingertips like "feathers"! She can be very heavy-handed....but she really did try to lighten her touch!
Now, about 12 weeks later, I'm fine with the process. But it did take awhile!!
(By the way....I had no problem waiting for the initial 6 week period, because I wasn't back at work or out much at all! So.....I could live with the two-toned look I sported! )

Answer
Gummy,,,I had roots coming out of my roots,,,but the P.S. said not to do anything until a minimum of 6 weeks. I did obey him, and it still felt too soon. My ears were very sensitive,,,and my hairdresser, who has dealt with facelift post op customers before, had the foresight to put Vaseline behind my ears, to protects the incisions, and prevent any chemicals from invading that area. Hate to think what the experience would have been like without the Vaseline l/mmh/product/beauty/ayer/index.vm?procid=13&catid=642" target=_blank>ayer of protection. If you want to play safe, perhaps you should wait 8 weeks, and use a hat for camouflage. It doesn't "tickle" when they put the chemicals on a new incision.

Answer
Thank you so much for the great suggestions. I really like the vaseline idea and I think I will wait for 8 weeks. Even under the best situation, coloring your hair does burn the scalp. I'll just have to be grey!Barb in Wisconsin
