2nd face lifts

Question
Hello everyone,
Did anyone every have a second facelift, not a revision but a second one after 7 to 10 years?
Susan

Answer
My mother had her face lift when she was 46 and then she had a 2nd one 8 yrs later and then she had a mid face lift maybe 6 yrs later. So when I told her I was going in for a mid face lift at 39 she couldn't argue with me.
She told me when I was 16 and she had her face lift that I should start saving for mine.
I love this board, btw.

Answer
I have had two facelifts. The first one I had at 47 and also had upper and lower /mmh/product/eyelidsurgery/index.vm?procid=6" target=_blank>eye done.I was never happy with the results [my neck was never tight and was looser on one side.It was an awful experience so I didn't do a revision.I had my second face and /mmh/product/facelift/index.vm?procid=7" target=_blank>neck lift in jan.2006 just before my 58th birthday. it was a completely different experience.I sailed threw no problems and it was about as easy as possible.I had a facial plastic Dr. this time.I still think I'll have a little tweek done on my neck.I think part of my problem is I'm very fair so not the best /mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>skin for aging. queen

Answer
Queen, what kind of surgeon did you have the first time ? I made the mistake of having an opthamologist perform a Co2 procedure on my face.

Answer
He was a general plastic surgeon. He was apparently not to experienced. It took him 8 hours to do my surgery and when I finely woke up hours and hours later I was in pain for 2 weeks. This time I woke right up and no pain but took over the counter meds for soreness for a few days.queen

Answer
I've had two. My first one was at 41 and my second this past summer and I'm now 52. When I had my first, my PS said it would probably last about 10 years which it did. But time marched on and I went for the second although I looked pretty good. Most of my friends thought I was crazy. My attitude is to have it before you really need it and then it's not so obvious. You just appear to be one of those people who never seem to age.
This time around, I knew what to expect. The recovery time wasn't nearly as bad. I didn't have the depression I had the first time. It was actually a nice break to lie around watching movies. I wasn't so anxious about what I was looking like right then, but knew it would take some time. I dont' want to be one of those people that do it every decade but I do want to look my best for now.

Answer
I'm hoping that I can accept the aging process better when I'm 50. Plus I plan to move to Oregon at that time so I'm counting on the beauty of trees to distract me from my vanity.

Don't count on it. Talk to us "seniors" on the board. No matter how old you get, it's tough to lose the "you" you feel inside.

Oh i so agree with that Alice. At 40 i thought, oh i won't worry about my looks so much when i am 50! I worried more. I am sure come the 60th i will be thinking of a re do

Answer
Like me, most people I've questioned still feel around 28 years old inside, so it's always scarey to look in the mirror and see your mother staring back at you! It's probably even worse if you're in good physical shape and active.
I can accept a certain amount of aging, but when I see UGLY when I look in the mirror, that's when I feel it's time to find a "fixer." Walking around with frown lines and baggy eyes is kind of like walking around with your clothing all /mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>wrinkled and not even the right size to fit you any longer!
