Question
Hi guys I just found this website - its wonderful! Got to actually look at some real near term post op pictures and am planning my surgery, recovery etc. So I have a nightime engagement on the 18th of February - nothing spectacular just some tickets to an event - whats your experience been did you feel/look up to going out by that point in time? How was the overall recovery process -what were the pain meds you took? I'm going in for a pre-op on the 18th so will ask some more questions but would love to hear from people who have been there
tks

Answer
What all are you having done? Fifteen days is cutting it kind of close. I had a very fast recovery (judging from our talks on this board) and I returned to work in 17 days. I know with others it took a lot longer. You will probably feel OK--I was having cabin fever by then to get OUT OF THE HOUSE-- but it will depend on the bruises and swelling, etc. and if you want to be seen. The bottom line is you just won't know until you're going through it!!! Not much help am I? Life just keeps getting better and better!!!

I am 3 weeks post op today, however at 2 weeks I was out and about...but everyone is different. I had minimal bruising and swelling, so the little I had was easily covered with camo. The main issue I had was fatigue. I found my energy levels waning quickly and I am an active and fit person. My sleep has not been what it could or should be, so that contributes to my fatigue and not sleeping on my side has kept me restless.
If you are simply going to an event where you go, sit, and leave without a lot of fanfare, you will be fine, no doubt! I didn't have my eyes done, but I had all the other. Think positively and you'll, no doubt, heal just fine! Good luck!!!

Hi Maryb51, I had the same as you and although I was out and about pretty quickly to shops etc, I cancelled an event I had planned at 3 weeks, as I just didn't feel ready for a reveal to people who knew me, but would probably have been a bit taken aback by my appearance at that time. I was also very tired by the end of the day. I had 8 hours of surgery. I could not have put make up on my /mmh/product/eyelidsurgery/index.vm?procid=6" target=_blank>eyes either, and they were still scratchy. As the other girls say though, everyone is different in their rate of healing, and everyone's PS may do things differently. It depends on the event, and how confident a person you are. Also, there is no harm in having something to look forward to, and if it is something where you can be anonymous, or don't give a ****, go for it! Good Luck, let us know how you get on!
