Question
My United Health Care took 2 months! They apologized for how long it took and could/would not offer explaination as to why it took so long.
Answer
I'm almost right there with you. It took mine 7+ weeks to approve me. It makes you wonder, especially when the surgeon says it will only take 2-3 weeks!!!
Answer
Congratulations Beth!
So are you still on for 7/31? I'd love a buddy to go through this with.
Answer
Yep...we are still scheduled for the 31st. Although, my dear sweet 4 year old got a virus and has decided to share with his 2 year old brother and with Mommy. UGH!! High fevers, fillled sinuses, cough, etc. I'm trying to get some rest before my physical on Monday so hopefully I can shake this bug. I really can't afford to put the surgery off. I start fall classes at University of Nebraska part time on Aug. 20. I will only have 3 weeks to heal before hiking all over campus. I think I will have to get one of those rolling briefcases. Any thoughts about carrying books at 3 weeks po?
Answer
Get a rolling bag--you'll be glad you did...you don't want to be schlepping around heavy books at three weeks...way too soon! You just aren't healed 'solidly' enough yet! (I know, at 4 weeks I opened up a whole incision line, nipple to crease)....better to err on the side of caution..you don't want to mess up your expensive artwork!
Answer
oh dear, I have united healthcare as well. My PS said normal approval time is 4 - 6 weeks, but he put a rush on it because I have a limited amount of time I can do this before I have to be back at work. I was wondering what you all think, should I go ahead and call my insurance company and question my status? Or is it a bad idea to bug them?
Answer
YellowDog.... I would call. I went to Coordinated Care and had them put a rush on it - they forwarded the info to management. They really wouldn't do anything until my surgery info was in their system for 2 weeks. You just have to call and notify them of the upcoming surgery with Drs. name, hospital, surgery date and what surgery you are having done. I ended up calling NONSTOP for 2 weeks to finally get approval. Some of the reps were great...others not so much. In fact one lady told me calling wouldn't help any and I should just quit. Another rep told me to call everyday until it was taken care of.
Good luck - I hope you have better results. I am very unhappy with them at the moment. They were great with my 2 pregnancies and c-sections, but this was rough.
