FINALLY Back Online. 3 Weeks PO. Thrilled to death!

Question
Today is 3 weeks PO and the first time I have been able to post. I post from work since my computer at home is "sick" and this is my first day back at work.
I am THRILLED with my new boobs. Even though I am still somewhat swollen and still sore - I wouldn't have changed a thing.
I think I am going to be happy with my size too, which is gonna be a "C" I am guessing, once the swelling goes down.
I didn't have any open spots, minimal pain and no complaints at all. I have just started silicone sheeting for the scars since I am completely healed (on the outside anyway - the inside is another story - SO SORE!). I have a few questions about massaging the scars and what not, but I think I will jus tscan around and see.
Still in a sports bra and of course I wear it for 23 1/2 hours a day.
Can you tell I am SO HAPPY?Lost 5 lbs. on 6/19/06. Went from a 34DDDD to a C I am guessing. Still swollen.
Would I do it again? IN A SECOND!

Answer
Hi there Mommyoftriplets. I just got back from my 1st consultation for BR and tummy tuck and /mmh/product/liposuction/index.vm?procid=9" target=_blank>lipo. I am soo excited. The PS told me that he thinks that my insurance will cover my BR.
I am also very scared. I am a 38DDD and want to be a small C.
Can you tell me about your entire experience? The Nurse told me that there are some people that are back to work in 1 week. How do you feel about that?
Just the thought of being that much smaller, and having perky breasts.... makes my day.
I would love to hear all about your experience.
Please share.
Thank you so much
Angela "Pangie"

Answer
My WHOLE experience. I will gladly tell you anything you want to know. I am still so SHOCKED when I look in the mirror. They are so HIGH and SMALL and PERKY. I am still so psyched about having finally had it done that I can hardly stand it.
I was a 34DDDD which I poured out of - top, bottom and sides. I don't actually know what size I was, lol. HORRIBLE neck and back pain. I went for a preop appointment in March and for my own reasons, I couldn't have the BR done as soon as he could do it (like 4-5 weeks) because of work reasons and my mother coming down and what not. Anyway, I started with like a 8-9 week count down and I didn't think it would EVER get here, but it did!! Finally, June 19th!
I don't remember a lot of the first week, because of the Demerol I took for 6 days, lol. I do know that as long as I took that every 5 hours (bottle said every 6) that I wasn't hurting bad.
I think that I am one of the success stories in that I didn't have any problems. I mean yeah, I am still sore 3 weeks PO, but I don't think that is that big of a deal.
As far as going back to work after 2 weeks, yes, it is possible, depending on what kind of work you do. Some people go back after 1 week or even before that. Not me though. Aside from being REALLY SORE at 2 weeks, you have to remember that this isn't just some outpatient surgery. This is major trauma to your breasts. It takes longer than one thinks to get over the healing process. I mean, I KNOW that I am still going through it. Yes, the outside scars are healed and I am working on scar reduction now with the silicone sheeting, but DANG, my insides are really still quite sore. The insides are still healing NO QUESTION!
I still tire SO EASILY! and have to constantly remind myself that I AM STILL HEALING.
My mother came and took care of the kids for the first 9 days. I mean, they are old enough to basically take care of themselves (I mean dressing and feeding and baths and what not) but for entertainment and cooking and cleaning and laundry and ME! she was great for. I wouldn't have been able to change my own dressings or take care of me or my household. I have JUST started doing laundry this past week.
I have REALLY taken it easy because I knew that the more I did, the more chances of open spots and complications and even pain would be.
In other words, I am not saying not to go back to work after 2 weeks, I am just giving you the reasons that I personally didn't. I think all of my "not doing things at all" for 2-3 weeks really helped in the healing process. I would have rather done that than had any healing issues at all.
Anything I missed? lolLost 5 lbs. on 6/19/06. Went from a 34DDDD to a C I am guessing. Still swollen.

Wow.. wonderful.
I have a desk job, and to be honest, it isn't that hectic. I do have to walk around every once in a while, do a little bending, but no lifting.
do you have pics of before and after... afters of day by day or by week?
My PS said he only does BR in the hospital. My PS has his own surgical center, but feels that a BR should be done in the hospital, and sometimes requires a patient to stay over night.
I have been large breasted all my developed life. I literally went from a tiny flat chested (not even enough to wear a training bra) 8th grader of 4'10" and weighed 95 lbs, to a 5'4" 115 and wearing a 34B (that was pouring over)... just over summer vacation. I remember growing and being achey and hating it. I literally was never able to go bra'less since that summer. I am now 41 years old (divorced)... and 2 kids later and hate the image that I see in the mirror. I have a wonderful man in my life, and I will not allow him to see me, full frontal. Not very fair to him.
I have discussed the entire procedure to my sweetie, and he is all for it. He says "If it makes you feel better about yourself, than go for it".
Today when I met with the PS he talked about how the incision, especially under the breast where the vertical and horizontal cuts meet, is usually the hardest part to heal... and sometimes takes longer. That did scare me a little.
Did your insurance cover your Reduction?
How long till your swelling went down? Could you tell the difference in size, right away?
Wow... I am excited!

Answer
I had an overnight stay. I had drains in only 24 hours (I hear that the majority of PS use drains) but they were removed before I left the hospital. I didn't even feel them coming out!
I have a clerical job too, I wouldn't have been back at 2 weeks - couldn't physically looking back.
You asked about swelling? Mine are still swollen and I expect them to be for a WHILE. That is the reason for the soreness I am complaining about. The more I do, the more sore they are. I am having a hard time reminding myself at this point to slow it down. I mean, I know wnough not to lift a gallon of milk, but it seems that I can't remember that doing laundry is what made me hurt yesterday!
Could I tell a difference right away? OH MY GOODNESS! I could tell in the recovery room. There weren't these huges boobs on my chest anymore. Yes, I look in the recovery room. They looked SO SMALL! Compared to the way they were before, they WERE small. These little boobs were actually sitting up on my chest too - not laying up underneath my arms!
My insurance company did cover my BR, thankfully! I only paid a $100 deductable. They covered it all at 100% after that. WOOHOO!
Remember, everything that your PS tells you he HAS TO TELL YOU! He has to give you the worst case scenario. I remember just looking at my PS and I know my eyes were bugging out. I was like WHAT??? He said that it was his duty to let me know every possible risk and side effect that could possibly happen. He wouldn't be fulfilling his duty if he didn't tell me that my nipple graft might not take - since it was like a /mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>skin graft basically and could be rejected - and then what would he do if it actually happened and I hadn't been warned? (I had to have the Free Nipple Graft because of size reasons)Lost 5 lbs. on 6/19/06. Went from a 34DDDD to a C I am guessing. Still swollen.

The first thing I remember in the recovery room is reaching up to feel if they were smaller! Then I lifted the sheet and looked!BR 06-22-06

Pangie.. I was SOOOOOOOOOOO looking too!!! When I woke up.. I peeked down my hospital gown, lifted my surgical bra and gave DH a big grin!
V is right... if you go in excited.. you come out of it ready willing and able to deal with recovery. I went back to work after a week (surrounded by two weekends). I didn't have a problem because I also have a desk job and this is the slowest time of year for us. You just have to take it easy and listen to your body. Don't push yourself. Everyone heals differently.
It's very exciting to be given a second chance at a new body (I know FIRST HAND!!!). Good luck!
Tripletmom...
Welcome back! I know what you mean about the sore insides of your breasts. I am still have hug-a-phobia. Isn't it great to have small(er) breasts? I find myself checking myself out every chance I get. DH says I pay them more attention than I do him! The NEW me born on 6/22/2006- BR/BL and Lipo to u/l abs, flanks and hips

Yes, GimmeAC - it is WONDERFUL! I got so excited the first time I shaved my legs in the shower and my boobs didn't even TOUCH my legs. That was an awesome moment too. mommyoftriplets-
I was wondering where you were! I remember seeing you on the list for June 19- I had my surgery on June 20th. I'm glad to hear you're doing well.
I'm 3 weeks post op-today and loving it! I also had a great experience and my recovery has been amazingly easy so far. I only needed pain meds for the first 3 days. I'm a full time mom so I'm not able to say when I would have been able to go back to work, but I was preparing meals and caring for my family by the 3rd or 4th day. My mom has been staying with us to help me out- that has been great because she helps with the more heavy-duty stuff. I have to keep reminding myself that I need to take it easy. I scrubbed 3 bathrooms at 10 days post-op, did laundry at less than a week post-op. I still need help vacuuming and lifting, but pretty much everything else is back to normal.
