? about wound opening.....

Question
If your incision opens and takes months to heal and close but the skin does not turn black.........is this considered skin necrosis?

Answer
No...necrosis is skin death. If a wound wont heal...maybe it needs a stitch from underneath removing, if its preventing new tissue from closing the gap...or a new stitch or glue to help it stay closed? Open wounds also usually need antibiotics to stop pus from forming.

Answer
Thanxs tracy........i had a difficult time healing from both BL....the incision opened up......took months to heal. Im a smoker and i DID quit 8 weeks prior to surgery. My PS thought this did have to do with my history of being a smoker. I thought necrosis happened in smoker's.........is that true? Or can it happen even if you arent a smoker? Why is it that the incision opens like that? Do you think it has to do with somethinf the PS did wrong? Im sooooo scared to have more surgery.
