10 Months Post-Op

Question
Well, I'm almost 10 months post op and I've never been happier with the new pair. I can finally wash a load of dishes without practically being in tears from the back pain! They are still numb underneath, but I've accepted that it's probably permanent. But, the benefits from the surgery greatly outweigh that little inconvenience.
One problem I had when I went to the surgeon, was that my hands were going numb at night. He thought that my pair were pulling down so hard in the bra that the bra straps were putting pressure on some nerves in my shoulders. Well after surgery I still had that problem. So, after some physical therapy and nerve tests it was shown that I actually have carpal tunnel. It hasn't responded to any of the treatments, so guess who's going back under the knife? At least work comp is paying for everything, including 2/3 of my average pay, while I'm healing, for both jobs I have, even though only one caused it. That is a relief. Anyway, I know this isn't a carpal tunnel message board, but I just wanted to give a quick update on my long term progress. My next surgery is in about three weeks, so I look forward to it and getting some relief in my hands (and a full night's sleep!).

Isn't it amazing how large breasts can affect your hands? I could not believe it when my PS told me it was possible. I thought I had carpel tunnel, but after my surgery, my numbness was gone. I was amazed.
Good luck with the next surgery.
Since you are 10 mos. post-op, I have a question for you.
Did you notice any change in your breasts anytime after 4 months post op?
I had my BR on 9/26, and am still hoping to drop a cup size.
Can I really expect any changes now???
Thanks.

Answer
It sounds like you had the opposite outcome that I did. I was sleeping on my side at 3 weeks, which some people have said is really soon, but my doctor said if I wasn't uncomfortable, it was okay. As soon as I starting sleeping on my side and my stomach, my hands were going numb again - they never did when I was sleeping on my back. I do look forward to the next surgery and getting some relief from carpal tunnel!
Anyway, 4 months post op...that was a long time ago, but I don't remember any significant changes. I was at my smallest immediately after surgery, as the swelling went away and they started to soften and drop to where they are supposed to be, I got a little bigger. I think once I hit 4 months there was very little change if any. I still sometimes wear the sports bras I wore during recovery - they fit then, but they are a little small now. Everybody is different, but I never dropped a cup size. Besides, being the size I am now is WAY better than what I was! Hope everything goes well for you!

Glad I could help! I just wish everybody could have as positive of an experience as I did! My mother said that she could never have the nerve to do it, if she needed it, but I just say if you really need it, you would go through with it! Can I assume you're doing well? You sound like it!
