Question
I just wanted to try and calm some fears out there because I know when I was pre-op I really appreciated reading about good recoveries.
I had my BR on Wednesday. I went from a DD/E to a full C. We used the lollipop method as apposed to the anchor). I also had lipo on the sides, and under the breasts (to prep for my TT next month) and he even through in a little lipo under my arms where that horrible pit-fat always is. So all and all it was a pretty agressive surgery and there were a lot of things in the hospital that went "wrong" including nausea and bad bruising and all. It looked like it was going to be a long hard recovery initally.
But here I am 4 days post-op and I feel totally and completely GREAT! I felt okay yesterday, but my sides were still soar from the lipo, but this morning I woke up and it was like a ray of sun.
So it's possible guys!
Things I did that I *think* helped:
Lymph drainage massage before surgery.
Drinking TONS and TONS of water starting two weeks before surgery(as recommended by the massage therapist to help the toxins drain out).
Borrowing a recliner and sleeping upright.
Wearing a good surgical bra that is very supportive.
I'm not even kidding guys, I feel like I could do practacally all of my regular things (including taking care of a crazy 22 month old) starting tomorrow. I won't overdo it though, I've had some good advice about that.
I just wanted to share and hopefully make someone feel better! It's worth it, I have the nicest boobs ever now!-Flounder

Way to go Girl I am glad to hear you are doing so Awesome I am doing great too. I just can't imagine what I was so worried about now but Like flounder said to those of you that are coming up make sure to drink plenty of water and good rest was a help for me. Keep up with the stories on this post and take all the advice you can I know the ladies on this site helped me a ton. The most uncomfortable part of it all for me is the swelling all over and My PS says I am doing great and that he wants me to swell that is the bodies way of fighting toxins.
My Temp has stayed norm and my headaches and neck and shoulder pains have decreased to almost nothing now.
Just remember flounder you did just go through major surgery so still even though you feel like you could run a marathon don't try it. just take it easy as possible for a while and let your body recover as long as possible.
Well Glad to hear you are doing so well
Recovery prayers to you

Hey Tina, my surgery buddy! I've been thinking about you! I'm glad you're doing so well too! And yes, I know about the overdoing it thing. Jeannie has warned me about "dumbass syndrome" and I'm going to try my hardest not to fall into that catigory.
Yeah, I'd love to hear lots more stories of great recoveries. We should compile them here for encouragment when we need it. I swear, it's true that at the 11th hour you start thinking "what the hell am I doing?" and you start thinking you might back out, but before you know it, you're lying comfortably on a table with a warm blaket on and somebody says to you "Surgery is over". I have said it before, but to me, it felt like an alien abduction- like a chunk of time just dissapeared. It was great!!!
Also Tina, I'm sheepishly admitting that I might be feeling better in the shoulder neck area as well. I won't fully commit to this until I'm up and doing things, then sleeping in a real bed at night- but I do feel something, and it's good!
But yes, WATER. It's so simple. Sure you have to pee all the time, but you're peeing out the toxins so more power to ya!!! There is NO WAY these bruises would be fading so quickly if not for me just flushing my system. I plan on going ahead like this for my TT and hopefully have a miraculous recovery there too!!!-Flounder

Great news, Flounder! Now you'll just have to get used to 'floundering around' for a bit until you heal enough to be 100% back to normal activities! (that was the hardest part for me)....Seems those that are the most anxiety stricken preop have the best post op experiences! I guess there is something to the old saying...hope for the best but expect the worst! Then you definitely won't be disappointed! Congrats and welcome to the club...and don't disappear! When are you having the TT? I'm going in for lipo (bra line, which I didn't have at the time of the BR, and abdominal) May 23 or 24 (I forget which day...just know it's a Wednesday).BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Answer
Thanks so much girls! I'm still feeling wonderful. Better every hour.
LookinUp, you are totally right, hope for the best- expect the worst. It worked like a charm for me this time. I was really overdue for a medical break for once.
Hey, I have two questions for you actually. I'm keeping the TT a secret (trying to) and I was planning on telling everyone that I was going back for the bra line lipo and that was all. I know I'll be much more laid up from the TT, but what did your PS give you as a recovery time? I just want to make sure I have all my facts straight unless someone grills me, or even looks it up. I'm also planning on saying that I needed some drains (so that if they see something on my belly I can say it's them). That never really happens though, right?
Also, I noticed that you had chin lipo during your BR. I was really thinking about doing the same during my TT. I can barely afford this as it is, so can you tell me how much extra that was? Also, how bad was the bruising? That one I figure I might have to own up to because I'm sure it was obvious. I was just curious about yours.
Thanks so much!!!!-Flounder

Answer
Hi Flounder! The chin/neck lipo was 1800 dollars(but I know prices can vary widely!) Maybe the PS will give you a discount since you are having it at the same time as another procedure--it really is quick--no pain at all afterward...I didn't bruise much...a little bit at the angle of the jaw(near the ears--if you have long hair you can definitely hide it!), and a ring around my neck (looked like someone tried to strangle me with a very thin rope--it was reddish pink rather than purple and a thin line--but it dissipated rather quickly). There is just one teeny tiny stitch under your chin that was taken out 2 days later...no noticeable mark at all. I had to laugh...I'm not tellling anyone about my abdominal lipo--just said I'm going in for BR revisions (which I am--dog ear and bra roll lipo). I had a mini TT 17 years ago. NOt having a TT now, so don't know the recovery on it. If you go to the TT /mmh/product/tummytuck/index.vm?procid=11" target=_blank>abdominoplasty boards, they'd probably be able to help you on that one.BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Answer
Oh no no, I KNOW the recovery of a TT, I've been all over that board. I'm sorry if I sounded unclear. What I meant was, what's the recovery for the bra line lipo only, just so I can get my story clear in case someone is being extra /mmh/product/rhinoplasty/index.vm?procid=10" target=_blank>nosey. Does that make sense?
Thank you for the info on the chin lipo, that is really helpful. I will have to ask him about that. Thanks for the details about the bruising and scar, that really doesn't sound that bad at all. I have long hair, so I could probably pull that one off.
You are always so helpful! I think you were the first person to respond to my very first post on here! Thanks so much!!-Flounder

One of my friends had the bra line lipo, during her lunch hour, and went back to work the same day. She said she was a bit sore, though. If you can get it done on a Friday, you'll be able to go to work on Monday. Even with the abdominal lipo I'm having, he said a long weekend is all I'll need. (That's why I'm doing it over Memorial Day weekend).BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Hmmm, then my story might not fly. I wish my family wasn't so into everyone's business and I didn't have to be so paraniod about them finding every little thing out.
It looks like I'm going to have to think up a better story. Thank you so much yet again for the help!-Flounder

i was just reading this again and had to laugh about people being in your business! i have only told 2 of my good friends at work that i'm having a BR. Everything is being done by personell and is confidential I have a civil service job and work for the county here.
will it be very noticable when i come back to work what i have had done? hadn't thought about that. especially since it will be spring and warmer, no more baggy sweaters? I have taken 2 weeks off.
Answer
Hey Pryn! Haven't talke to you in a while!
You know, I've seen a few people already who look at me and say "You look fantastic, you lost weight, huh?" And I say yup. But they can't specifically see what is missing (Um, how bout those boulders that used to be strapped to my chest?)
I'm also sorry if people are misunderstanding me here. I am not hiding the BR, but I AM trying to hide the TT.
Personally, I don't care who knows about the BR, but the TT, I just want to be unexplanably and suddenly HOT!
Either way, having people in your business (family or work) just sucks. I hope you don't feel self concious at work Pryn. Screw em, they'll be so jealous of your perfect boobs!!! Enjoy it!-Flounder

As for people at work knowing - I only told my boss that I had to have surgery, but I didn't tell him what for. When everyone asked me why I was gone, I just told them that I had personal stuff to take care of and left it at that. No one at work has said anything to me, but I did wear my old clothes for a while. I was/still am kind of swollen, so my middle is actually bigger than it was, but I don't have the "rolls" anymore and my tummy is flat. (TT/BR)
Answer
tere- Sweet! That gives me hope! I forgot that it's gradual anyway with a TT because of the swelling.
I SOOOOO want to buy new clothes and strut though. Don't want to be too obvious. I wish my friends and family would leave it at "personal stuff" and quit digging, but they won't. Arg.-Flounder
