I am an RDA. To the best of my knowledge, no, you can't make it bigger. There are procedures such as bleaching, bonding, or veneers and crowns that can improve one's smile greatly. You can change the shade and even shape and size of your teeth, but only God could make your mouth or smile wider/ bigger. If it's your lips that bother you, why not try lip injections? Have you asked your PS? I have small mouth, so my smile isn't very wide. My lips are full though, but if they weren't, I would do the injections. One of my favorite patients just had her PS use her own belly fat in her lips. They look awesome.LAURA

Hey Girl,
Thank you.... I too am looking to plump up the top lip...
I'm not sure of anything to make a smile bigger, but that does not mean that there is not away....
Wait I do know a way --- if you can fit your entire fist in your mouth it will be sure to give you a bigger mouth therefore a "Bigger Smile"... I know this because my sister can do this and she has one HECK of a smile, from ear to ear.... No joke, one time she had gotten her fist stuck in her mouth, but not for long though....
Take care,
Lezza

I fiqured that! I wonder if I got some veneers, somthing I do want, if that may change my smile. Not so much making my mouth bigger just my teeth stand out more. I looked into lip injections but theres a chance I could absorb my own fat and it doesnt take......were still talking about options. I wasnt down right sure about this but I'm leaning towards this more and more....thanks for your advice!!![url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

I have a somewhat of a small smile too. Its because of my overbite. The dentist can widen your arch with a appliance in your mouth. I started this but stoped because it hurt after a couple days but it does help tork the teeth back out to were they used to be before they started to go inward from by overbite over the years. Im going to try this appliance/retainer thing again though.http://www.makemeheal.com/pictures/viewAlbum.php?albumid=1296

The mouth opening itself I doubt if they could change very easily but as you said there is a lot to do for the teeth. With porcelain veneers they can be made wider, longer, whiter, etc, perfectly even. THey are very expensice and not usually covered by insurance.
I would start with a good whitening - it's part of my pre-veneers prep. and it has made an impressive difference. Remember that I am a lot older than you, with more "experienced" teeth, which need more than whitening. They are pretty straight with no major issues that way but are a bit uneven on the bottoms due to wear - so could be better. If yours are reasonably positioned, at your age whitening alone might make you happy. THe restorative stuff which has to be done for me before the veneers is not cheap - I needed 2 implants (not the round squishy ones:-)and have to get 3 crowns done to prepare things, insurance is not paying for any of that besides the one crown. Also bleaching, not covered. The veneers themselves I will probably need at least 6 of and I think they run at least $800 each. My dentist says there is a slim chance insurance might cover some of that b/c I have had previous work done on some of the teeth, some bonding, etc. We submit all the expenses and often they surprise us by covering something we weren't expecting, I will say I think they are generous and fair so we'll see.
The bleaching I am doing, he had trays made for me and I wear them about 4-5 nites a week. You can also wear them in the day if you want to. Cost about $500.00 and he is going to do a laser treatment too. I would say it's money well spent so far -
good luck!Rose - Inamed410 "Gummy Bears" pics here

Mysty...veneers can be just gorgeous. I have seen some really beautiful results. Make sure your dentist is experienced in veneers and cosmetic dentistry. There is nothing like a pretty smile! Just look at Lezza!!! She is the "poster child" of the to die for smile!
Tata, orthodontics can really transform your entire smile! Especially when you have an overbite. I also have one and am about to go back into braces myself. I wore braces for two years when I was a teenager, and never wore my retainer, so they have shifted back pretty bad. No choice but to do it all over again! Oh well, it's my own fault! Definately something I feel that I need to do though! I think my 9 year old and I will be in braces together!
Whatever you ladies decide on, I think it's fantastic that you are going to improve you smile. It's really the first thing most people will notice(aside from our boobs! LOL! ), especially when it's nice and you use it freely! So go for it!!! LAURA
