Hey girls,what I wana know is how come I didnt get any of these muscle relaxers that all u girls go on about!!?? Im jealous,they sound really good, all I had were painkillers called CO-DYDRAMOL (that arent even that good so I had to take others that I have & shouldnt which worked hell of a lot better!) & antibiotics called ERYTHROCIN (which make me feel as sick as a dog!!) has anyone taken these? I would think they prob have diff names over the posh side of the pond that is home to many of u gals! they contain a painkiller called DIHYDROCODEINE has anyone heard of them?
Im taking tablets every 2hrs as they dont work for that long, I know this is a very naughty thing to do & also I will say this out loud (something I have never,ever told a single soul in the world) I think I have an issue with pain meds I take them every day I feel comfortable enough to say it to u gals cos I know I wont get judged & told off
I know the situation needs to be addressed & Im working on it. I just worry what its doing to my body
Also I read a post recently (cant remember who posted it) but someone was worried about getting addicted to painkillers & said that colleagues had stolen from them, I was too embarassed to post but I have never stolen anything in my life. Just call your PS and ask him if you could have some muscle relaxers and some different pain mets. Ask for Vicodin. Thats what I got for my surgery and they work great and the muscle relaxers really do help. Esp right b4 bed and right when you wake up. Just make sure you take the two types of meds at different times and not together.

YOU and ME both. I asked for MUSCLE relaxers because everyone seems to have gotten them after surgery EXCEPT me. I asked my dr for a muscle relaxer and INSTEAD he gave me a stronger VICODEN called NORCO. They seem to work the same & they seriously only work for about 3 hours MAX. It says take them every 4-6 hours. I take 2 every 3 hours. SOOO I have 2 friends who just recently got BA's mid last year and they both gave me their LEFT over muscle relXERS AND they do help relax me! BUT I only got maybe 10 of those total so THEY were gone within 2 days.
And I was sick to my stomach for the 1st 4-5 days. I dont know if it was the ANTIBIOTICS or the VICODEN.
I have taken vicoden plenty times b4 and never got sick so I think itsthe ANTIbiotics.
I SAY ask your Dr for the MUSCLE relaxer. GET WEKLL! Its rough but it will be over soon

I get Valium for relax me as it does not make me as thristy as the flexoril did. I get Tylox for pain, not as sedating as some and works. For an antibiotic I had Keflex.....the erythromycin makes me sick too....I think the Valium is the best and it helps me to sleep too......I did not have any problems with addiction since I can not stand to be sedated once I am feeling better....

We dont have VICODEN over here, I have been taking DARVON/DARVOCET(I think thats what its called over that neck of the woods! Its called CO-PROXAMOL over here but it has recently been banned in the UK due to people taking overdoses on it, which if u ask me is silly as if someone wants to take an overdose, they will, whether it be bleach or paracetamol! xxhttp://www.makemeheal.com/pictures/viewAlbum.php?albumid=2970.

I would think that you would have better painkillers and muscle relaxers available to you in the u.k. as it seems like they will have something on the market over there for ages before is gets fda approval in the states. I know a lot of people who have struggled with over-taking painkillers. It is very common and it can escalate quickly without you realizing it. I guess the best thing is that you recognize that it may be an issue and to address it. Its nothing to feel ashamed of. We all have our vices. Mine is chocolate and red wine. HAHA I take it you wont be taking JACK for a night out anytime soon then! On the very few occasions JACK has been out with me he was very nasty to me 2, especially the next morning so Im not his friend either haha
I have had this little problem with the pain pills for approximately 3yrs although I very rarely admit to it being a problem, even to myself, I have never told a single person about this, not even my closest friends, sister whom Im very close to, (theres 3yrs between us) or my DH of nearly 4yrs. I keep it well hidden, sort of like a dirty little secret I do feel a lot better for actually saying it out loud tho. I think DH might have an idea, hes found lots of empty packets, etc but I make it quite clear that its not open for discussion. Does anyone else have a problem with pain pills? Darvocet make me feel happy in a funny kind of way, I cant explain. Im sure there are others out there who know what I mean!! my ps said she is going to be giving me 3 differnet pills and I will be taking all three. I have a VVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYY very painful foot surgery last June and the Vicodin and vistoral (to enhance the pain med) did not do much for me. My ps told me she will be giving me oxycotin pain med. Never tried them (anyone else try them) and she said you will be feeling NO Pain. She said we believe in the power of pain meds. So dont worry. Do I need to worry????? I was bed ridden for two week in June and I have had three children but I would have 20 over having that surgery agin, so I think I should be A-ok with this one. Any comments for me thinking I will be A-ok.

Dihydrocodeine is pretty powerful when used alone - it is also called DF118 and is used by heroin addicts when they can't get a fix to ease the withdrawal symptoms! I know this because I used to work in drug services as a drug counsellor.
I think some painkillers work for some and don't for others - it depends on how your synapses are arranged, I suppose. DF118 is quite addictive in itself, though. My mum used to be addicted to them, as she has a lot of illnesses and has been prescribed many painkillers.

Do u still work as a drug counsellor? I bet u have some stories to tell with such an interesting job xx
yeah, it is often illegally sold on to addicts. Don't worry though - in that dosage it is the paracetamol doing the work, not the dihydrocodeine! It is an opioid so acts on the same neurotransmitters as heroin (an opiate) which means it helps to ease withdrawal symptoms - but it doesn't give a buzz in the same way as heroin, therefore is simply an aid to get through to the next fix! On its own it is a powerful painkiller, as heroin is.
I'm not a drug counsellor anymore (changed my work about 2 years ago) but I was working with young people rather than adults. From what I know, liver/kidney function tests are not always very indicative of a problem because enzyme levels can change very easily. One of my clients had been addicted to alcohol since pre-teen and drank on a daily basis and when he had a test at age 18 it said his liver was normal! Yet he was showing many signs of ill health from alcohol.
However, if your GP didn't know what they were looking for then your test results may not be accurate anyway - you have to ask the right questions to get the right answers, so to speak!
If you are worried about your pharmaceutical use and don't want to tell your GP I would suggest going to a drug service - they can help with a reduction programme and help you work out why it became a problem in the first place.
